The UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences is the first public pharmacy school in the Los Angeles-Orange County region. Its faculty and programs span a continuum from discovery, development, and delivery of new drugs, devices, and diagnostics all the way to optimizing medication therapy in patients and patient populations. The school offers a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, MS in Pharmacology, PhD in Pharmacological Sciences, and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD.) As part of the Susan & Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences, we actively collaborate with schools and programs in medicine, nursing, and population, public health, and the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute to educate, train, and mentor the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists and clinical pharmacists. The school’s mission is to be a driving force for advancing health and wellness of individuals and society.

Your Role on the Team

The UCI School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences is hiring a Visual Content Specialist who will be responsible for producing a wide range of visual assets, including graphic design, photography, and video content, to support the overall marketing and communication goals of the school.

This role involves a combination of graphic design skills, video editing capabilities, and a keen understanding of visual storytelling. The Visual Content Specialist will play a crucial role in creating a visually compelling and consistent brand image across various mediums and marketing channels, contributing to the overall success of the school’s marketing and communication efforts. This person will manage projects from concept to production, ensuring all work meets brand standards and deadlines. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working at the intersection of video content creation, graphic design, and photography.

This is a hybrid position that will require on-site work for photo/video shoots that will mostly take place during normal work hours; however, some events may be held on evenings and weekends. 

What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Strong graphic design, videography, and photography skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and video editing software like After Effects and Premiere Pro (or similar tools like DaVinci Resolve).
  • Must have portfolio showcasing visual design work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • The ability to generate creative ideas and translate them into visually appealing designs and engaging video content.
  • Effective communication skills to understand and convey design concepts.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Stay updated on design trends, video production techniques, and emerging technologies to bring innovative and fresh ideas to the visual content creation process.
  • BA or BS in Visual Communication, Digital Marketing, or other relevant degree from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
