This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing training programs that enhance employee skills, drive performance, and support career development. This role will collaborate closely with department leaders while leading a team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in retail training, exceptional communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning. They will identify and monitor training needs in the organization, and design, plan, and implement training programs, policies, and procedures to fulfill those needs

Training Strategy Development

 

  • Assess training needs, assessing compliance & skill gaps and develop a comprehensive training strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Design and implement training programs that enhance employee performance, engagement, and career progression.

Evaluation And Improvement

 

  • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Continuously refine training programs based on employee feedback and industry best practices.
  • Measuring impact through key people metrics improvement and in the employee life cycle

Collaboration

 

  • Partner with HR, RFS and department heads to identify training needs and create tailored solutions.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure the company remains competitive in talent development.
  • Involve key stakeholders and content creation to streamline, improve and simplify training process
  • Listen to our learners and adapt material to drive success

Essential Responsibilities

Training & Development

 

  • Developing an annual training/development strategy
  • Owns a training design & development in line with operational excellence, compliance and company objectives
  • Stewards the success of Workday learning seeking to optimize LMS platform design & content.
  • Designing and facilitating new training programs that support core coffeebar programs as well as new initiatives.
  • Collaborates effectively with cross functional teams and leadership to identify learning gaps and training needs.
  • Partners to create content HR initiatives quarterly including compliance training objectives
  • Key stakeholder in leading and directing operational roll outs such as operational change management launches and test & learn initiatives.
  • Formulating training plans and determining instructional delivery methods (i.e. training, onboarding, e-learning, videos, conference calls, meetings)
  • Developing training aids such as handbooks, visuals aids, webinars, screencasts etc.
  • Tracking and reporting monthly and quarterly training attainment etc.. progress
  • Using data to drive improvement of training across key operational areas.
  • Measuring effectiveness of training tools, programs, and initiatives, adjusting as necessary reporting back quarterly.
  • Continues education on training and instructional methodology.

Learning & Development

 

  • Leading leadership development initiatives and programs.
  • Build and maintain development tools for leadership development
  • Ensuring channel training structures and adapted and optimized for the best possible training environment. Example: Certified Training Stores (CTS) are equipped to deliver results while maintaining stable and supportive training environments.
  • Lead Certified Training Store strategy while creating and utilizing evaluation tools to measure the performance
  • Maintaining and driving continuous improvement of training and store immersion plans for all leaders in the field.
  • Onboarding new leaders to the organization

Requirements

 

  • Must reside within a commutable distance (~ less than 50 miles) to Peet’s corporate headquarters with the expectation of 3 days/week in Emeryville, CA.
  • Able to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field or equivalent training in adult learning courses.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in training and development management (essential).
  • Foodservice/QRS/Retail coffee experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Track record of developing and executing successful training programs and able to share work product.
  • Critical thinker with proven ability to make quality decisions innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office, LMS platforms and related business and communication tools.
  • Familiar with traditional and modern training processes and systems.
  • Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven team player
  • Proven adult learning approach with facilitation experience.
  • Strategic and creative mindset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Peet’s Home Office is a Hybrid worksite, which requires Home Office employees to work onsite 3 days per week.

The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
