Position Overview

The Training and Instructional Design Specialist is responsible for developing engaging instructional materials and ensuring that software documentation/training initiatives align with organizational goals through engagement/sign-off with subject matter experts. The candidate will also be responsible for writing, enhancing, and conducting process and software training programs that enhance employee skills and knowledge while mentoring and supervising junior staff.. 

This role has been designated as primarily remote, meaning it requires little to no onsite attendance. While this role can be designated as remote, you are offered the flexibility to select if you prefer to work primarily remotely, hybrid, or onsite. We’re open to considering candidates within 50 miles of our office location in Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities 

  • Project Collaboration: Collaborates with software users and Managers/Directors to prioritize and work through assigned projects to ensure requirements are addressed; makes recommendations regarding decision points/scope; identifies, reports, and tracks project issues. Provides ongoing evaluation and support for evolving stakeholder requirements and oversees change management. Serves on project core teams as assigned. Manages issues to resolution including artifacts, testing, documentation, workarounds, and communications.
  • Information Management and Documentation: Creates documentation and other performance support assets (e.g., training materials, job aids, videos, multiple-modality documentation) for software systems. Serves as principal for maintenance of existing systems documentation with multiple groups of SME content authors to enhance usability and effectiveness of documentation they author. Develops and enforces all style guides, CMS processes, publishing procedures, and other supporting tools. Manages single-source documentation and training library including content files, media files, templates, skins, stylesheets, navigation, search, linking, and webspaces for specific applications.
  • End User Training and Performance Support: Applies instructional design and performance support best practices to analyze needs and develop appropriate performance support interventions for software applications. Creates, updates, and manages infrastructure for end-user access to documentation, support, and training. Manages training module design and content development and provides training to end users. Mentors junior staff in training design and facilitation. 
  • System Quality Assurance and Support: Leads and administrates quarterly user acceptance testing (UAT) with junior staff to facilitate cooperative documentation of new features including requirements analysis, scripting of user acceptance criteria, and reporting. Works directly with users to triage, replicate, and report issues that do not pass UAT.
  • Research, design, develop, and suggest new and/or revise existing training programs in order to enhance employee knowledge, skills, and competencies required to support and or meet company goals, initiatives, and objectives. Delivery of training in person, including large audiences, or web based.
  • Assess learning/training needs through surveys and interviews with employees; conducting focus groups, consulting with leaders.
  • Translate learning needs into effective training experiences supporting core competencies.
  • Update materials in a variety of formats, including facilitator/instructor-led/classroom, e-learning, virtual classroom (webinars/live meetings), and self-directed using active training and Adult Learning principles, procedural guides, instructional videos and visual aids
  • Provide direct support to users in troubleshooting issues with the system(s).

Qualifications 

Skills and Abilities 

  • Minimum of 2 – 4 years experience in learning and development, adult education, or similar discipline. Basic instructional design experience for all levels of learners, from onboarding to leadership. OR
  • Minimum of 1 year of In-person and online facilitation and training experience with all levels of learners. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to translate technical information into user readable information. 
  • Experience with eLearning, LMS, Help authoring tools and graphic design is preferred, specifically with MadCap Flare. 
  • Ability to learn and apply new technology quickly. 
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills in an always changing environment.

Compensation we are offering for this position is at $84,582 – $105,728/year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
