Job Summary

Uses advanced technical expertise, accredited and / or certification public educational program concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex public education program issues and needs assessment initiatives. Works on most complex public education program issues, where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation and understanding of organizational strategies and business objectives. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for delivering courses, presentations and development of programs. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for course and instructional improvement. Fully knowledgeable in course subject matter and program.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $75,700 – $160,500 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Alliance Health Project (AHP) is a community-based LGBTQ+ and HIV-focused clinic located at 1930 Market Street in San Francisco. We provide psychotherapy, substance use counseling, case management, support groups, psychiatry, sexual health services, clinical traineeship, and provider education and training. Our multi-disciplinary staff are a client-centered, collaborative, Harm Reduction-oriented team. We have continued to grow as a community-based clinic by anticipating and addressing the changing needs of our LGBTQ+ and HIV community members for more than 35 years. Our process of continuous improvement of service to our community includes a strong focus on cultural humility and anti-racist service provision.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and minimum five years of experience or equivalent experience / training.
  • At least three years’ experience conducting trainings, applying adult learning theory
  • At least two years’ experience researching, writing, and developing synchronous and asynchronous curricula, and other learning materials.
  • At least two years counseling experience, ideally HIV, HCV and STI test counseling
  • At least two years’ experience working with HIV and populations disproportionately affected by HIV
  • At least two years working with HIV-related and LGBTQ-related health topics, including sexual and substance use,
  • At least two years’ experience applying theories of cultural humility
  • Advanced knowledge of accredited and / or certificate program instruction and delivery methodologies, the organization, market and business strategies.
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • and comfort approaching them in a client-centered way
  • Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments (i.e., Word, Excel, Qualtrics, Keynote, PowerPoint, Zoom, and comfort interacting with online learning management sytems ( ie Articulate,  Moodle cloud etc) and calendaring programs).Willingness to undertake multi-day travel, including occasional national travel
  • Thorough and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in reliability, timeliness, and attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, education, public health, or other social science
  • Continuing education in related field
  • Instructional design degree in online course development
  • Experience conducting trainings and developing written learning materials in Spanish
  • Experience providing services to communities of color, particularly Black/African American and Latinx communities.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and overseeing projects
  • Demonstrated experience planning and implementing technical assistance
  • Thorough skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new presentations / courses to meet organizational needs.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work impacts other areas of public educational programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of counseling theory and practice
  • Demonstrated knowledge of harm reduction theory and practice
  • Demonstrated ability to assess a learning or technical assistance goal, and plan a training module or technical assistance intervention to successfully achieve that goal
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate training participants
