Summary

The primary responsibility for the Technical Publication Specialist I is to create and revise Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) and publish documentation to support the service, repair and technical assistance of Kia vehicles in the United States. Duties include performing research, verifying technical procedures on vehicles, and preparing written step-by-step instructions using images and flowcharts. Qualified candidates are familiar with automotive knowledge and will work with Kia Product Quality Service Engineers to quickly provide technical support materials for Kia North America and its Dealers. This position requires close collaboration with the North American Safety Office (NASO), Warranty, Service and Parts Departments to successfully assign and complete project tasks.

Major Responsibilities

1st Priority – 50%    

  • Review provided rough drafts, gather and organize content into a finished document with logical flow, and appropriate language to support the target audience using industry standard communication.

2nd Priority – 20%

  • Research information from a variety of sources to support the development of both new and revised documents. 

3rd Priority – 20%

  • Actively participate in team meetings to review feedback provided by other departments. Gather information, confirm content and provide the status of project timelines to collaborating teams and managers.

4th Priority – 10%

  • Manage multiple time sensitive projects. Be present in-person for repair-related procedures in the service garage to validate research.

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Technical Writing Certification required

Overall Experience

  • Technical Writing or Instruction Design experience required.

Directly Related Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in a technical writing/publication role.
  • Familiarity with automotive terminology

Skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop (Edit Digital Media) or similar
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in video editing preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Visio/Outlook/Excel)

Pay Range

$59,725 – $79,996

Pay will be based on several variables that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, etc.
