We are hiring an experienced technical instructional designer to empower our global customers, partners, and the wider community. You’ll be instrumental in designing and delivering innovative learning solutions that accelerate the adoption of GitLab, enabling users of various backgrounds and industries to fully leverage our platform, showcase their expertise, and advance their careers. As part of the Education Services team, you’re joining a group passionate about creating scalable, impactful learning experiences that not only foster GitLab expertise but also cultivate brand champions.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), instructional designers, and cross-functional teams to align educational content with GitLab’s product roadmap.
  • Produce high-quality instructional materials, including presentations, assessments, and interactive content, adhering to our design standards.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve technical systems and environments for diverse training programs.
  • Apply cutting-edge instructional design techniques and adult learning theory to create compelling, effective learning experiences across various formats: instructor-led, self-paced, and virtual labs.
  • Continuously update and refine your content portfolio based on GitLab’s evolving features and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of certification exams to validate learner expertise.
  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in GitLab features, DevSecOps, and cloud-native technologies.

What you’ll bring

  • 3+ years of experience in roles directly interfacing with customers, such as curriculum development, technical training, or engineering consulting, preferably within a SaaS or subscription environment.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, DevOps principles, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate/Rise, Captivate, ScreenFlow, Camtasia).
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with experience in project management and working across diverse teams and time zones.
  • Experience with LMS platforms and advanced multimedia and web technologies (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, HTML5, xAPI, Reveal.js, JavaScript) is highly valued.
  • A background in education, curriculum development, or technical evangelism is beneficial.
  • Hands-on familiarity with GitLab, automated lab environments (e.g., Instruqt, Strigo), and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Terraform) is preferred.

How GitLab will support you

Please note that we welcome interest from candidates with varying levels of experience; many successful candidates do not meet every single requirement. Additionally, studies have shown that people from underrepresented groups are less likely to apply to a job unless they meet every single qualification. If you’re excited about this role, please apply and allow our recruiters to assess your application.
