Technical Instructional Designer

We do this while being Brilliant, Curious, Kind, Hardworking, Authentic, and Accountable.Job DescriptionThe Technical Instructional Designer will build coding activities and other learning objects, leveraging a deep instructional design background and current design practices in object-oriented languages, particularly Java. This role creates training and technical documentation solutions for experienced and aspiring Java developers. In a client-facing role, the Technical Instructional Designer will help create training and technical documentation and deliver training on Java development. Success in the role can be defined as attention to craft, a natural collaborator, comfort with a high degree of ambiguity, and taking initiative.We are seeking a Technical Instructional Designer to join our team. This person can work remotely 100% of the time and must be based in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and on occasion deliver, training materials on Java and other similar technologies
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts on cross-functional enablement programs
  • Identify and curate learning objects to address our client’s learning objectives and curriculum requirements
  • Work with team members to organize and review training materials for instructor-led and digital learning courses
  • Create training materials and assets such as short-form training videos, educational blogs, or wide-audience, public training workshops
  • Participate in and contribute to project ceremonies as needed (standups, kickoffs, retrospectives) along with client-facing and team design sessions
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers, consultants, technical writers, other instructional designers, designers, and clients to provide accurate estimations, timelines, and risks associated with client projects
  • Help guide clients towards effective solutions that balance technical requirements and business needs.
  • Participate in our technology sales process by attending sales meetings and providing estimates, risks, assumptions, and requirements for future opportunities.

Success In The Role

  • Passionate about contributing to the Java learning community through teaching and writing
  • Strong development and debugging skills with a deep understanding of Java in backend contexts, with instructional design skills that have proven to work with technical audiences
  • Working knowledge of APIs with interest in at least two languages (functional, declarative, or OO)
  • Familiarity with Java frameworks like Spring (Boot & Web Services)
  • Proficiency with relational databases and non-relational databases such as Postgres and MongoDB
  • Experienced working on consulting projects
  • Desire to learn and understand as much as possible
  • Review others’ work and have your work reviewed
  • Appreciate the perspective that others from a variety of different backgrounds and experience levels can provide
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build to instructional design requirements and specifications (Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Tumult Hype, HTML5, LMSs)

Compensation And Benefits

In accordance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the approximate compensation range for Colorado or New York residents is $70,000 to $85,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills and certifications, and location.Projekt202 also offers, medical, dental and vision coverage, short and long-term disability, life insurance, paid holidays, flexible vacation, a 401(k) plan and match, and a paid parental leave program.
