We are seeking a Sr. Training Developer and Instructor who has experience leading curriculum development, course design and classroom instruction.

In this role, you will assist with training development functions and analyze DoD/Army training publications to identify potential revisions needed. Work with key stakeholders to ensure training initiatives are embedded across institutional, operational, and self-development domains. Plan, manage, lead, and execute the development and implementation of training strategies and learning concepts. Provide analyses of training requirements and recommendations to leadership necessary for implementing a civilian protection training capability. Advise client on training enablers that allow the implementation of civilian protection training in the live, virtual, constructive, and gaming domains. Collaborate with military and civilian leadership, technical experts, and operational colleagues. Training developers may also be part of the instructional team providing classroom instruction that teaches assigned students in the manner described in the Program of Instruction. Utilize your operational experience to foster a team environment of learning, progress, inclusion, and excellence and help us build the next generation of DoD/Army civilian protection experts.

Location: Hybrid Delivery with initial expectation to do 4 days per week on client site in Crystal City (could be 3 days after fully onboarded by no guarantee)

Travel: Some travel required (<10%)

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • 7+ years of military experience with training or training development in the Operational or Institutional Army
  • 5+ years of experience with training management or analysis of training data and information
  • 3+ years of experience with curriculum development including developing and designing full-length, skill-based instructional training material including Programs of Instruction (POI), Individual Training Plans (ITP), Exams, Military Training Standards (MTS), and/or Training Support Packages (TSP)
  • Experience developing, editing, and writing training publications in accordance with Army Regulation 350-1, Field Manual 7-0, and TRADOC Regulation 350-70
  • Experience with defining course objectives, identifying content delivery and assessment methods, determining ways to integrate technology into the classroom, evaluating revising existing curriculum, and adapting existing curriculum into digital formats
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with leading meetings and developing presentations/briefings for use by senior leaders
  • Familiarity with adult learning theories, the ADDIE model, and training development best practices.
  • Experience conducting training needs analysis, to include the analysis of existing instructional materials.
  • Experience designing and developing a wide range of learning opportunities, to include instructor-led, online, self-paced, mediated, and blended courses.
  • Experience developing course storyboards and collaborating with multimedia professionals and courseware developers.
  • Experience supporting curriculum analysis and design efforts.
  • Experience developing broader training materials to include job aids, performance support tools, scripts, etc.
  • Experience facilitating group discussions, design meetings, and regular project meetings.
  • Experience with assessment and evaluation development.
  • Experience working directly with clients, subject matter experts (SMEs), and instructors to fulfill project requirements.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and adhere to established project milestones and deadlines.
  • Willingness to stay abreast of current learning technologies and trends.
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change
  • Possession of strong technical writing, as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Experience with capability development and capability gap analyses across Army doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, facilities, and policy (DOTMLPF-P) domains
  • Knowledge of the Army Training Management System (ATMS) and its role in supporting Army training management requirements
  • U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC) and/or U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) graduate
  • Masters degree in ISD.
  • At least five years of professional experience as an Instructional Systems Designer.
  • Experience working on Federal training projects.
  • Experience working with and editing multimedia, to include audio, video, and graphics.
