Job Description

The purpose of this job is to develop, implement, and assess the effectiveness of training solutions for Pilot’s Talent Development team. This role is responsible for supporting training programs end to end, including administrative/logistical responsibilities and facilitation with emphasis on leadership development.

  • Support the curriculum development and training delivery as a member of the Talent Development team using various formats (i.e., instructor-led, virtual, eLearning, etc.).
  • Conduct needs assessment and analysis to identify development needs and define learning and performance objectives.
  • Create blended learning content aligned with learning objectives.
  • Partner with subject matter experts and other internal stakeholders (e.g., department leadership, Human resources staff) to identify needs, develop training content, and deliver most appropriate solutions.
  • Apply methods to evaluate and improve the effectiveness and impact of training Team Member performance.
  • Manage existing programs; make timely updates based on internal stakeholder feedback and changes in process or business needs.
  • Facilitate leadership development and team effectiveness interventions.
  • Lead training projects to include developing proposals for learning solutions and managing stakeholders, timelines, and communications to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Maintain awareness of industry developments and Pilot’s business to provide relevant and timely solutions.
  • Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose and behaviors; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level.
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Support other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in I/O psychology, human resources, adult education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience developing training content required.
  • Recognized professional training and related certifications preferred.
  • Formal leadership experience preferred.

History
Founded by James Haslam II, the first Pilot gas station was opened in Gate City, Virginia, in 1958. After more than four decades of rapid growth, expansion and partnership, Pilot and Marathon Oil Company entered an agreement to form Pilot Travel Centers in 2001.

Over the years, Pilot Travel Centers experienced significant growth and expanded internationally, opening its first travel center in Canada in 2006. In 2007, Pilot bought Marathon Petroleum’s shares and entered a new partnership with CVC Capital Partner in 2008. Two years later, Pilot Travel Centers and Flying J Inc. entered an agreement, officially creating Pilot Flying J on July 1, 2010.
