We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Standards and Curriculum Alignment Specialist to fill the pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and relevance of standards alignments within the Discovery Education (DE) products. This role involves collaborating with teams across the product organization to analyze assets using a standards alignment lens, leading projects to update and improve standards alignments within DE Experience and conducting quality assurance reviews of standards relationships and custom curriculum alignments. Additionally, the Senior Specialist will support site building for custom curriculum solutions and work closely with independent contractors to manage ongoing standards updates while also collaborating with district-level staff to design and deliver custom alignments. The role also includes monitoring and managing state standard alignment and document updates across the K12 organization as new standards are integrated into DE’s systems.  

In This Role You Will: 

Manage Complex and Dynamic Projects 

  • Support and lead projects related to updating and improving standards alignments within DE Experience
  • Support site building for custom curriculum solution work as needed 
  • Collaborate across the curriculum and instruction teams on asset analysis leveraging a standards alignment lens  

Standards Alignment  

  • Develop a deep understanding of Discovery Education’s product offerings
  • Monitor and manage state standard alignment and document updates across the K12 organization as new standards are integrated into Discovery Education’s systems
  • Audit DE platform regularly for quality assurance of instructional standards, curriculum, and custom curriculum alignments 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Respond and provide information related to trends and effective instructional practices in K-12 education
  • Interacts with senior management, executives, and/or major external stakeholders, frequently involves negotiating matters of significance to the organization; reconciles multiple stakeholder views to drive business result
  • Collaborate closely with independent contractors to manage ongoing standards updates

Credentials and Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in education with a background in teaching, curriculum development, instructional design, professional development, educational consulting, or related role
  • Proven track record of leadership and innovation in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, or related field
  • Experience in instructional design is highly desirable
  • Legal right to work in the United States
  • Ability to travel 5-10% as needed for team development, conferences, etc.

This role is designed to be in our Charlotte headquarters with a hybrid work schedule.
