Rasmussen University

The Senior LMS Training Specialist will be a key member of the Learning Experience team, responsible for leading the training and support initiatives related to the Learning Management System (LMS). This role involves designing and delivering comprehensive training programs for faculty, staff, instructional designers, and students, ensuring they are proficient in using the LMS to enhance the teaching and learning experience. The Sr. LMS Training Specialist will work closely with instructional designers, technical teams, and educators to develop user-friendly instructional materials, provide ongoing support, and troubleshoot LMS-related issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs on LMS functionalities and best practices for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Create, update, and maintain training materials, including user guides, video tutorials, and online help resources.
  • Conduct workshops, webinars, and one-on-one training sessions to enhance LMS proficiency among users.
  • Convey technical information to non-technical audiences clearly and effectively.
  • Consult with faculty and staff to identify training needs and tailor programs to address specific requirements.
  • Analyze LMS updates and LMS usage data to inform training and development strategies.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance checks on LMS usage and training materials to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Oversee multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
  • Use e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.
  • Work directly with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as D2L, Blackboard, or Moodle to understand faculty and student uses and hurdles.
  • Apply instructional design models and theories (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, backward design).
  • Onboard, mentor, and train direct reports as assigned/needed.

Reporting Relationships:

 The Sr. LMS Training Specialist reports directly to the Director of Learning Quality. This position will be responsible for leading and training other team members. This role will also work with key academic leadership and stakeholders to provide training and LMS guidance. 

Requirements:

We are looking for a Sr. LMS Training Specialist with:

  • Master’s degree in Learning Design, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design, e-learning development, online training, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working directly with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as D2L, Blackboard, or Moodle.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and technical teams.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing training needs and LMS-related issues.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and rapidly changing environments.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest trends and best practices in LMS and e-learning.
  • Quality Matters (QM) certification or experience with QM standards is preferred.
