About the Organizational Development Team

As a part of the Organizational Development (OD) Team, you will have the opportunity to impact the growth and development of Thumbtack’s leaders and employees. You will join a small, high-output team that works at the intersection of human behaviors and company success to support the People team’s mission of powering the success of our business through the success of our people.

About the Role

We’re looking for a collaborative, solution-oriented Senior L&D Manager to lead learning design and deployment for a variety of learning initiatives. The Senior L&D Manager will design, develop and deliver learning for the entire Thumbtack organization with a particular focus on manager and leader development. This is a great opportunity for an experienced professional eager to build out Learning and Development at Thumbtack and make a positive impact on our culture by investing in our employees and leaders. This is a remote position.

Responsibilities

  • Assess organizational learning needs and establish a learning roadmap to integrate and prioritize needs based on business impact. Take initiative to identify opportunities, propose practical solutions with clear rationales and influence cross-functional teams to execute.
  • Drive thought leadership and uplevel the quality and outcomes of learning efforts across the organization by partnering on and influencing learning design initiatives.
  • Design, develop and facilitate compelling learner-centric training programs, cohort-based learning journeys, blended content, and action-based learning experiences that support people leaders and employees.
  • Program-manage a select group of vendor partners in the delivery of learning experiences; provide feedback and suggestions to improve impact.
  • Collaborate with HR business partners (HRBPs) and business leaders to identify performance gaps and build solutions that enhance employee success.
  • Evaluate the business impact of learning programs, communicate insights that help to increase positive behavioral change, and make necessary adjustments to refine solutions to improve efficacy.

What you’ll need

  • At least 8 years experience in learning and development with deep experience of application of adult learning concepts using a varied modalities
  • At least 5 years experience designing and delivering learning programs for senior leaders
  • Executive presence and credibility to engage people leaders at all levels in learning experiences and provide coaching and feedback on their skill development
  • Deep expertise in Instructional Design and Adult Learning Principles
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and collaboration skills, ability to build rapport quickly and effectively manage cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Experience designing and creating content from scratch, ability to independently writing and producing visual content to a high standard 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, large-scale projects simultaneously and effectively manage stakeholders at all levels of the organization

Bonus points if you have 

  • Experience designing and sharing learning best practices across the organization
  • Experience implementing learning systems (LMS or content platforms like Udemy or LinkedIn Learning)
  • Experience in a people management role to build credibility with leaders
  • 5+ years experience working with a tech company
