We are seeking an experienced Senior Instructional Designer (ID) to join our team for a 7-month contract position. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for reviewing K-12 course content, ensuring that it meets high standards for quality, engagement, and alignment with educational objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in instructional design, curriculum development, and content review, with a strong focus on K-12 education.
As a Senior ID, you will collaborate with content creators, subject matter experts, and project managers to ensure that course materials are pedagogically sound, user-friendly, and effective in supporting student learning outcomes. This is a full-time role with a 40-hour weekly bandwidth, offering a dynamic and flexible work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Course Content Review: Review K-12 course materials, including lesson plans, assessments, and multimedia resources, to ensure alignment with educational standards and best practices. Provide constructive feedback on instructional effectiveness, clarity, and engagement.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all course content is accurate, coherent, and free of errors. Review for consistency in tone, style, and format to maintain a professional and student-centered learning experience.
- Instructional Design Best Practices: Evaluate course materials for adherence to proven instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and recommend improvements to enhance learning outcomes and student engagement.
- Collaboration with Content Developers: Work closely with content creators, instructional designers, and subject matter experts to refine course materials and ensure that they meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with trends in K-12 education, instructional design, and emerging technologies. Use feedback from teachers, students, and other stakeholders to suggest and implement improvements in course design and delivery.
- Review Feedback Implementation: Provide timely and actionable feedback on drafts, revisions, and final course materials to ensure quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Project Management: Manage multiple content review projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 7-12 years of experience in instructional design, content review, or curriculum development with a focus on K-12 education.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Expertise: Strong understanding of K-12 educational systems, standards (Common Core, state standards), and best practices in course design and delivery.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with instructional design tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc.), Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard.
- Content Review Experience: Proven experience in reviewing educational content for accuracy, quality, and pedagogical soundness, with a keen eye for detail and clarity.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, actionable feedback to content developers and stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to producing high-quality, error-free content.
- Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to suggest creative solutions to enhance instructional materials and improve the overall learning experience for K-12 students.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with digital learning platforms and the integration of technology into K-12 education.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and designing content for diverse learners, including students with special needs.
- Knowledge of data-driven approaches to evaluating course effectiveness and improving instructional design.
