Senior Director, Learning Innovation and Learner Experience

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide thought leadership about smart application of innovative learning technologies (including AI) and practices.
  • Shape and enact the learning culture.
  • Guide our learning leaders company-wide about how best to create learning products for their internal consumers.
  • Act as the strategic thought leader to our technology and delivery partners on the best technology solutions to invest in to become a true skills organization.

This role reports directly to the Vice President of Learning and Leadership development and has global responsibility. This is also a people leadership role. We will have highly capable subject matter experts reporting to this role, and the successful candidate will not only lead them directly but will also be responsible for leading work within the broader networked organization (such as people services and the Learning, Leadership Development, and Capability Consultants within the Operating Units / Functions).

What You’ll Do for Us:

  • Help create an environment that sparks employees’ curiosity and ignites in them the desire to learn and grow.
  • Shape the learning culture and experience for the company.
  • Craft an actionable innovation strategy and best-in-class learner experience.
  • Shape the development of all learning products and specifically lead the development of learning products for Talent and Leadership Development.
  • Influence the strategy and design of comprehensive enterprise and functional learning programs in stewardship of providing the best-in-class overall learner experience.
  • Lead a team of learning design professionals directly and the extended community of learning leaders indirectly.
  • Ensure strategic plans are outcome-driven and that there are clear execution plans and team accountabilities to deliver on those plans.

Work Focus

  • Lead the Learning strategy, innovation strategy, learning culture activation, and learner experience.
  • Understand fully the needs of the employee-learner population, using data to inform plans and decisions.
  • Manage an internal team and relevant external vendors tasked with the design of learning products.
  • Work with functional capability leads to bring best-in-class learning practices to life.
  • Manage and develop direct reports to support overall delivery and to continually build skill set of the team.
  • Own the Educational Assistance policy and partner with the internal delivery team for execution.

Communication Focus 

  • Actively cultivate strong relationships with key partners.
  • Passionate advocate for learning experience and innovation; active contributor in learning communities.
  • Develop actionable thought leadership pieces for key stakeholders (up to and including the Executive Team).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 10 – 12 years’ experience as learning and development (leadership and team) manager / consultant.
  • Experienced in consulting with and advising stakeholders.
  • Experienced in working with third party vendors to develop custom programs. Experience in working in a COE, matrixed learning organization, managing key projects and leading a significant component of the leadership / learning agenda.
  • Depth of subject matter expertise, industry best practices, and global trends relevant to workforce development and employee experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities with autonomy.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take an idea from concept to action.
