Job Description
Reporting to the Academic Manager of Learning and Teaching Services, the incumbent will work with faculty, subject matter experts (SMEs), program coordinators, and Chairs to build capacity in course design and development. The incumbent will advise faculty on areas such as learning theories, instructional design processes, lesson planning, assessment, educational technology, course outlines, and learning activities. The incumbent will guide faculty and SMEs through course design processes as well as course revision processes for face-to-face, online, and hybrid modalities.. The incumbent will assist faculty and SMEs in ensuring courses meet Algonquin’s quality assurance standards, accessibility standards, and policies, as well as best principles of practice for face-to-face, online, and hybrid course design and development. The incumbent will coordinate and work collaboratively on curriculum, teaching and learning focused projects
The incumbent will be required to work independently and collaboratively in a team consisting of specialists such as Curriculum Consultants, Educational Developers, and Educational Technologists. The incumbent will possess strong leadership and relationship-building skills, be goal-oriented, be able to deal with conflicting priorities, and possess excellent communication skills. The incumbent will also be responsible for staying current on research and assessing trends and technologies related to learning experience design, educational theories, models, and frameworks, especially as it relates to curriculum.
In addition to providing one-on-one support for faculty, the incumbent will facilitate professional development workshops to groups of faculty and develop digital assets and materials to communicate best principles of practice in face-to-face, hybrid, and online course design and delivery. This includes supporting the effective use of the Course Outline Mapping and Management System (COMMS) by providing assistance to faculty, coordinators, and chairs.
