Position Summary:

 We are seeking a dynamic, authentic, passionate person with content expertise in learning management systems, specifically Canvas. This role resides within Erikson’s Technology Enabled Learning team. Critical to this individual’s success is the ability to advance the academic courses and professional development opportunities with consistency in instructional design and prescribed online (e-learning) course standards. 

The individual should have a strong focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to advance Erikson’s mission of serving young children and their families is essential for success in the role. Candidates should have a desire to further develop their DEIBJ competencies to better create solutions and collaborate with colleagues toward our unified efforts to strive toward justice. As a key member of this team, the individual should expect to develop their own equity goals and approach DEIB growth with curiosity, compassion, and humility. 

Principal Duties:

  • Share responsibility to drive DEIBJ efforts forward, ensure that the Technology Enabled Learning efforts are supportive of Erikson’s DEIBJ values and that there is a broad focus on engaging our many constituencies through this work.
  • Develop personal equity goals and approach DEIBJ growth with curiosity, compassion, and humility. These should include both equity goals that support growth in organizational equity and personal growth.

 Core Function 1: Academic Course Duties

  • Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Instructional Design & Development:
  • Manage LMS during planning, launch and implementation of every Academic Program semester.
    • Forward content from existing courses to new courses every semester
    • Create template shells for faculty to work on new courses.
    • Build courses for every new semester, ensuring adherence to Erikson’s quality standards. 
  • Manage LMS for professional development programs
    • Explore LMS options and integration with Canvas 
    • Support contractors with LMS SCORM file upload 
  • Use Agile technical project management tools to manage the backlog, sprint planning, and retrospectives that includes learner feedback loops 
  • Use learner personas to design engaging, effective learner experiences 
  • Use online learning standards of excellence grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and adult learning principles leading to knowledge acquisition, practical application, and competency based
  • Implement instructional design and development approaches to be responsive to the changing needs of learners
  • Engage in the framework for continual quality reviews in order to enhance content inclusive of learner feedback and changing standards in the field

Core Function 2: Support Desk Management

  • Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Instructional Design & Development:
  • Support faculty with Canvas issues related to Erikson content as they arise during each semester.
  • Develop and conduct Canvas trainings and orientations for faculty.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend use of existing features for the support desk software used by Erikson to provide effective solutions to Erikson learners, faculty, and staff seeking support.
  • Analyze and provide monthly report on support desk tickets to understand the trending needs of learners, faculty and staff in which TEL needs to increase support.
  • Create and update canned responses based on support desk analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency/expertise in technology enabled adult learning 
  • Proficiency/expertise in content creation software
  • Eagerness to partner with faculty, staff, and students
  • Expert organizational skills, ability to pivot quickly from task to task, estimate effort, meet deadlines, and meet individual and team goals
  • Demonstration of continuous DEI commitment and growth

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency/expertise in technology enabled adult learning in the child development/education fields
  • Academic bilingualism/biliteracy
