Position Summary:

The Manager of Academic Curriculum plays a critical role in shaping and implementing curriculum. This role involves overseeing the design, delivery, and assessment of instructional materials and aligning them with industry standards and course and program outcomes to support organizational initiatives. This leadership position requires strategic vision, collaboration with stakeholders, and expertise in instructional design and curriculum development.

Role and Responsibilities:

Curriculum and Instructional Design:

• Identify and implement effective instructional design methodologies, media strategies, and facilitation approaches.
• Identify and implement effective instructional design methodologies, media strategies, and facilitation approaches.
• Conduct gap analyses to determine learning needs and appropriate delivery methods.
• Develop and update educational materials for in-person and online learning platforms to reflect regulatory, philosophical, or practice-based changes.
• Collaborate with the assessment team to design and maintain assessment tools to evaluate instructional and learner outcomes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Collaborate with nursing faculty and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create and refine curriculum and professional development programs.

Strategic Planning and Analysis:

• Assist in the development and execution of short- and long-term plans for nursing program curricula.
• Assist in the development and execution of short- and long-term plans for nursing program curricula.
• Analyze curriculum performance data and recommend revisions based on findings.
• Maintain development schedules and ensure alignment with organizational timelines and budgets.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, while meeting quality standards.

Leadership and Team Management:

• Allocate time across leadership (80%) and instructional design tasks (20%).
• Oversee schedules, approve time off, and ensure adequate project and meeting coverage.
• Conduct weekly team meetings, 1:1s, and coaching/mentoring sessions with instructional designers.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

Innovation and Collaboration:

• Drive innovation within curriculum and professional development strategies.
• Support the successful implementation of functional and cross-departmental projects.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Educational Background

• Master’s degree in Learning and Development, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Nursing, or a related field from an accredited institution. 

Professional Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership or management role.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing learning technology, software, or educational environments.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience developing courses using LMS platforms and authoring tools.
• Demonstrated experience in designing assessments for distance learning experiences.

Skills and Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of concept-based, competency-based, project-based, and other learning design models.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
• Proven ability to collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
