The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for developing and delivering impactful training programs that enhance employee skills, drive engagement, and support business objectives. This individual will collaborate with stakeholders to assess learning needs, design curriculum, and implement training solutions through various modalities, including e-learning, instructor-led sessions, and blended learning approaches.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement engaging and effective learning programs utilizing instructional design models, to include e-learning courses, instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (VILT), and blended learning solutions.
  • Develop instructional materials such as course content, facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, assessments, and interactive learning activities.
  • Facilitate instructor-led and virtual training sessions to ensure effective delivery of learning content.
  • Conduct needs assessments and collaborate with business leaders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and HR partners to identify training requirements.
  • Develop, create, or convert existing training materials into effective and engaging e-learning courses and deploy the content in the Learning Management System (LMS) to support the business.
  • Analyze training effectiveness by collecting and interpreting data on learner performance, engagement, and feedback to inform continuous improvement.
  • Identify training needs and gaps, and work in close collaboration with cross-functional departments to create, update, and improve training plans, programs, and supplemental documentation.
  • Manage and maintain the LMS, ensuring content uploads, assignments, and system functionality, including reporting on course completion, engagement, and assessment scores.
  • Provide LMS technical support and troubleshooting, including handling user issues, managing roles/permissions, and onboarding new employees.
  • Assign and maintain monthly and as-needed training assignments, including safety and compliance training.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging learning technologies, and best practices in instructional design and corporate training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in instructional design, facilitation, corporate training, or a related L&D role.
  • Experience in facilitating ILT and VILT training sessions.
  • Proficiency in e-learning development tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Genially, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and training methodologies.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to deploy, track, and manage training programs (Cornerstone preferred).
  • Excellent time management skills and adherence to project timelines to balance a dynamic workload while seamlessly shifting focus to deliver on changing business needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills including communicating edits, feedback, and recommendations with tact and diplomacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and facilitating training for a corporate environment, preferably in Human Resources.
  • Certification in instructional design, facilitation, training, or a related field (e.g., CPTD, ATD, AIHR) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Cornerstone or Dayforce LMS is a plus
  • Familiarity with video editing software and virtual training platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
