How You’ll Contribute
As a Lead, Learning & Development specialist, you’ll be responsible for creating, delivering, and managing educational materials for employee growth and/or career development. This role is responsible for having a foundational understanding of instructional design models that produce impactful, measurable results, such as increased employee engagement and improved retention by fostering a collaborative, productive learning environment that captures the audience’s attention and helps them meet their development and performance goals. The L&D specialist lead is also responsible for the development and performance management of a Learning Specialist as their direct report.
In This Role, You’ll Get To
- Develops strong relationships with internal stakeholders to develop course materials and receive feedback.
- Leads and coordinates training efforts with vendor partners to align company programming.
- Collaborate with team members to use subject matter expert (SME)-provided content to design, create, implement, and maintain training.
- Perform needs and task analysis, scope projects, and evaluate existing documentation to identify the most appropriate training approach and content.
- Independently create storyboards, audio, and video scripts, job aids, scenarios and case studies, learning activities, online course content, web applications, infographics, learning assessments, and user guides using sound instructional design theory.
- Create engaging quizzes, simulations, and assessments based on learning and performance objectives.
- Manage complex relationships with various SMEs in an environment with short deadlines and high business impact.
- Maintain and develop course templates, models, standards, and procedures.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and best practices in the eLearning and instructional design community.
- Supervise, develop, and assess direct reports; ensuring they receive regular performance feedback, prompt resolution of problems, and the time and opportunity to grow professionally.
- Manage capacity and project status of a Learning Specialist.
- Complete weekly 1:1 with Learning Specialist for updates and in-time solutions.
- Provide real time coaching and feedback to Learning Specialist.
- Provide resources and development opportunities in alignment with Learning Specialist goals.
We’re Looking For People Who Have
- Minimum five years of proven experience designing training.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- FINRA Registration of SIE and Series 6 or willing to obtain within 12 -18 months of employment.
- In-depth understanding of instructional design models and adult learning principles.
- In-Person, Virtual, and Hybrid facilitation skills for effective training delivery
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey information effectively to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to deliver effective and engaging presentations to a variety of audiences, by transmitting the message with clarity; interacting/engaging the audience; and interpreting and understanding the mindsets of the listeners knowing the audience.
- Demonstrate project management skills with the ability to plan, identify, coordinate, and track critical activities, milestones, and deliverables.
- Possesses a strong understanding of annuity products, including fixed, variable, and indexed annuities, with the ability to educate and provide guidance on these products as part of our training initiatives.
- Advanced with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using authoring tools (e.g. Articulate360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Familiarity in the use of Learning Management System LMS (e.g., SuccessFactors) and eLearning platforms to host content. Knowledge of SCORM, AICC, and xAPI.
- Strong graphics skills to create style guides, course templates, web applications, graphic user interfaces, flow charts, etc. Familiarity designing and developing eLearning, multimedia and other computer-based training in a short amount of time, ideally within a corporate training environment.
- Proficiency in translating technical-functional content into an effective and consumable user experience.
- In-depth understanding of instructional design models and learning theories.
- Demonstrates experience managing direct reports and working cross-functionally with other technical and non-technical teams.
- Desire to develop others and lead by example.

- Compensation – Base salary ranging from $90,000 – $110,000 plus competitive performance-based incentives determined by company and individual results.
