The Instructional Technologist/Faculty Training Specialist will work collaboratively with the Director of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning, as well as the Information Technology team, to promote and support instructional technologies for teaching and learning and the integration of innovative teaching and learning strategies and methodologies. The position will provide support for instructional technologies used in on-ground, hybrid, and distance learning courses; plan, coordinate and conduct training workshops and special sessions on current and as emerging instructional technologies as well as teaching and learning strategies and methodologies; conduct research and make recommendations for emerging technologies for use in an higher education setting; and develop technology-based instructional materials.

Duties include: 

  • Provide training and support for the Moodle Learning Management System, Panopto Lecture Capture System, SMART Boards/Podiums, and other instructional technologies that support teaching and learning in on-ground, hybrid, and distance learning courses. 
  • Provide training to new faculty at the West Campus on how to use the classroom technologies, including how to log-in to the instructor workstation and use the classroom AV equipment.
  • Problem solve and troubleshoot instructional technology issues.
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct training workshops and special sessions on current and emerging instructional technologies and teaching and learning strategies and methodologies. 
  • Create and upgrade technology-based instructional materials, including print, audio, and video.
  • Develop instructional web and media-based interactive learning objects (tutorials, demos, training modules). 
  • Work with faculty to integrate instructional technologies and active learning strategies into the curriculum.
  • Conduct research to identify and make recommendations for potential applications for new and emerging instructional technologies.
  • Collaborate with co-workers, on departmental and college-wide projects. 
  • Participate on college committees as needed.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor. 

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Training and Development, or related field

Experience: Minimum 2 years
