Salary Range: $45,602 – $58,841 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid.

Summary

The focus of this position is to provide primary instructional technology support for the University’s six diverse Colleges, to include support for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses. This position will work collaboratively with the Instructional Designer, Multimedia Specialist, and Faculty Development Coordinator positions to support the core mission and goals of the Faculty Resource Center.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with faculty teaching online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses to select and appropriately implement technologies that enhance student engagement and learning.
  • Introduce new technologies to a broad campus audience, departments and units, and individuals.
  • Use the Canvas learning management system as a trainer, mentor, and administrator.
  • Lead workshops, trainings, and web conferences sponsored by the FRC to keep campus informed regarding best practices in using technology for teaching and learning.
  • Assist faculty in troubleshooting technology issues.
  • Work collaboratively with other FRC staff and campus constituents to plan effective teaching development programming.
  • Help maintain the FRC website.
  • Serve on campus committees as a representative for the FRC.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in instructional design and technology, instructional media development, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing direct instructional technology support to university faculty with regard to evaluation, selection, and implementation of new and existing technologies for online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting, training, and managing faculty who are using a learning management system for teaching in higher education. Preference will be given to those with experience with Canvas.
  • Experience in using lecture capture systems, with an emphasis on the pedagogical value of recorded content. Preference will be given to experience with Panopto.
  • Advanced expertise in introducing faculty members to the OSCQR rubric or other accepted quality standards of course design, in working collaboratively with instructors to apply the standards to their use of instructional technologies in their courses, and in evaluating courses and identify areas for improvement with the standards.
  • Online teaching and/or learning experience, preferably in a University setting.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, and fine motor skills. Tasks may involve looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
