American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is the global leader in Commercial Payments and continues to be an exciting and fast-growing business. To maintain this success, the organization must accelerate sales and drive profitable charge volume growth. This role reports to Learning and Development team within our GCS Sales Enablement organization. 

We are seeking an instructional designer to develop high-impact learning programs used to onboard and upskill our commercial sales colleagues and their leaders. Your work will empower our frontline teams to deliver a consistent brand, value proposition, and an outstanding customer experience – ultimately driving bottom line results.

This role requires a drive for uncovering the root cause of performance opportunities, and delivering solutions crafted to inspire changes in behavior. Reporting to the Director of Learning and Development, you’ll run the end-to-end creation of training programs, including needs analysis and evaluating the changes in performance resulting from our initiatives. You will reach learners across the globe using a variety of delivery methods (on-demand, in-person, virtual, or a combination) and modalities (eLearning, virtual training, podcasts, videos, job aids, etc.), which you’ll deploy in collaboration with our training teams.

This instructional designer position requires technical skills including developing in Articulate 360 products, working with brand graphics to build aesthetically pleasing materials, and managing content in our LMS.

Responsibilities

  • Manage learning development programs with the ability to create effective delivery strategies that meet the needs of various audiences
  • Design and develop learner-centered, performance-based training programs in multiple modalities, including interactive eLearning modules, videos, learning labs, simulations, learning communities, and other learning solutions
  • Develop deep understanding of intellectual property (e.g., methodologies, programs, brand standards) to ensure content is accurate, sound, and high impact
  • Follow developments in the adult learning, sales training, and instructional design industries to incorporate best practices and new/innovative technologies and ideas
  • Engage with community of customers and end users to better understand the experience learners are having and work to continually elevate our programs
  • Build effective working relationships with sales leaders, partner teams, and broader customers
  • Analyze usage data, engagement, and qualitative data to report on the impact of initiatives and identify areas for improvement
  • Project manage the development of new content, including approvals through our governance processes

Minimum Requirements 

  • 3 years related experience in learning strategies, technologies, and operations
  • 2 years of instructional design, writing, and development for blended learning experiences
  • Strong program management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong collaboration at all levels, including senior leaders and partner teams
  • Ability to distill and articulate complex concepts in a concise way
  • Experience working with Learning Management System Administration including loading content, making assignments, and pulling reporting data
  • Proficiency applying Articulate 360 Suite, Adobe, Camtasia, Audacity, and other authoring tools, demonstrated with a portfolio
  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
