Job Description

Position Summary:

The Professional Development Specialist – Instructional Design role designs, develops, and implements learning and development for McDermott attorneys Firmwide using innovative instructional design methodology and engaging digital learning technology. This role partners closely with Professional Development and IT to assess substantive learning needs and design training modules and platforms to continuously meet the needs of our evolving organization.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Firm’s Information Technology, Research, Knowledge Management, and Office of the General Counsel teams to provide attorneys with innovative learning and development programs that are compatible with Firm protocols
  • Design and implement interactive learning solutions based on industry-standard instructional design theories and models
  • Create on-demand training courses and eLearning modules utilizing AI, gamification, simulations, and knowledge checks
  • Edit and upload videos to learning management systems and track content utilization
  • Design visually appealing web and learning management system pages that are intuitive to users
  • Research and identify innovative learning trends and products for Firm application
  • Assess, evaluate, and liaise with external vendors/tools to supplement internal training resources
  • Report against established Professional Development priorities, goals, and key performance indicators

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in professional development, technology training, and/or digital learning
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Teams)
  • Ability to evaluate digital training options with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
  • Ability to develop and present visually and verbally engaging training materials
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Accurate and methodical with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, track, and manage multiple competing priorities with different deadlines and stakeholders

Target Hiring Range $90,000 – $126,000

Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of what final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that MWE provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
