The Instructional Designer and Trainer is responsible for providing support and assistance in the development, updating, and implementation of curriculum and learning outcomes, and full integration of technology and instructional technologies within all instructional programs. These responsibilities also include working closely with faculty in the research, adoption, and training in the use of instructional technologies. Finally, the Instructional Designer and Trainer assume all other work-related responsibilities as directed by the Director of eLearning.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of new programs and curricula as required.
  • Work closely with and provide advice and guidance to faculty on the integration of the technology into the curriculum with the understanding of the pedagogical aims and the current work practices of the faculty and staff.
  • Stay abreast of industry-wide changes in design philosophy, and new tools and technologies.
  • Assist and/or provide training to faculty on the use of emerging technology and instructional technologies in the classroom.
  • Work as part of a tightly knit creative team, participating in creative brainstorming and exchange of ideas.
  • Must think dynamically and take pride in their skill and speed in meeting the overall marketing direction and the goals of the college.
  • Support customer with on-line learning solutions such as: instructional design, authoring, multi-media.
  • Keep abreast of the current and future directions of eLearning and help ensure compliance with any legislation, policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Demonstrate good organizational and project-planning skills.
  • Scheduling, recording participation, and collecting evaluation results for professional development for all personnel.
  • Attend all institution-wide faculty and staff meetings.
  • Assist in recruitment and retention of students.
  • Provide support for faculty-related College events.
  • Serve and provide information to College committees as needed.
  • Promote the mission and goals of Wallace State Community College.
  • Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, Dean or President.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required (instructional design or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Instructional Design or related field preferred.
  • Must have a solid education, background and experience in the design and creation of traditional as well as electronic forms of learning objects.
  • Successful candidates will possess excellent time management and organization skills to complete projects within a specified time frame.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable copyright laws relative to the use of graphic and textual materials.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and comfortable following directions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and work under pressure.
