Job Location: Works remotely (home office) from Covington, LA, or Clearwater, FL

Job Summary: 

The Instructional Designer is responsible for the structure, content, and materials to support POOLCORP’s learning and development programs.  This position will manage the audit and redesign of multiple legacy instructor-led training programs and develop blended learner experiences that support the needs of learners and the business and best leverage all training methods and resources available. From authoring instructor materials to managing the support, design and development of a learning system that will meet our needs for future growth, this key position collaborates with internal customers and builds or curates learning content that prepares POOLCORP employees to excel in their careers.   

This is a contract position with potential for future full-time employment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Audits the current POOLCORP content and program offerings to help identify the most effective delivery methods from instructor led in-person or virtual classrooms, to asynchronous self-directed online programs and tracking mechanisms for all training types.
  • Works with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), HR, and business leaders to identify and create curriculum to achieve the learning outcomes of key programs.
  • Curates, analyzes, updates and refines existing content.
  • Uses instructional design principles to develop content, including learning objectives, sequencing topics, selection of exercises and assignments, and assessments.
  • Designs and develops courses, curriculum and learning environments for an experience that is engaging, interactive, and aligned with the learning objectives.
  • Designs assessments, exams, and evaluation tools to measure knowledge and progress accurately.
  • Develops facilitator guides and other teaching tools to support the team of regular facilitators and occasional guest speakers.
  • Partners with the facilitation team and the Digital L&D Specialist on implementation of new learning program experiences and content.
  • Trains instructors and learners in how to use new learning technologies.
  • Works with technical staff to troubleshoot problems reported by users.
  • Manages student rosters and creates tracking and communication mechanisms to distribute materials and maintain completion records, quiz/test results and certifications.
  • Leads the documentation, reporting and analysis of all learning and development efforts and results, including learning program surveys and feedback.
  • Applies best practices and employs the latest trends and technologies in instructional design.
  • Develops future learning paths by role through existing content curation, working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), HR, and business leaders to identify and build curriculum that addresses learning needs.
  • Leads the design and development of comprehensive training materials and instructional guides for other topics as requested, that result in increased user knowledge and skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in: Human Resource Management, Instructional Design, Organization Development, or similar degree.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience with instructional design and learning content development.
  • Applicable coursework and/or certifications relating to instructional design preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning methods, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Experience building courses for in-person learning and virtual environments.
  • Solid understanding of learning technology, including LMS platforms and on-line training concepts, materials, and issues.
  • Experience with content authoring tools or similar platform experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and gain new technical skills quickly.
  • Capacity to collaborate and build rapport and relationships with employees at all levels, coordinating across departments and stakeholders and external vendor partners.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including presentation and facilitation; ability to communicate complex concepts in plain language.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues, effectively managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Workday, Outlook, Adobe, the Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft TEAMs preferred.
  • Other duties may be assigned at management’s discretion.

Working Relationships:

  • Reports to Sr. Manager, Talent Development who works remotely in Raleigh, North Carolina.
  • Part of a national team of ten L&D professionals located across four locations.
  • Will regularly interact with the Talent Development team, HR, IT, SMEs across the organization, and all employees.
