Job Description Summary

We’re looking for an Instructional Design Specialist to join our growing Organizational Learning & Development (L&D) team. This role’s primary responsibility is the instructional design of our account’s current and future learning and development programs, workshops, and courses – in-person, virtual, and online. Success in role is someone who blends adult learning theory and our organizational culture and vision to inform content creation and delivery methods that address strategic business needs. This role may also help support coordination of broader L&D efforts.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to scope, outline, and design learning and development experiences that align with performance gaps and our organizational culture
  • Build relationships with leaders in the field and in support roles to collaborate effectively
  • Use adult learning theory and best practices to design in-person and virtual instructor-led courses and workshops, including participant material
  • Communicate project progress to stakeholders and sponsors
  • Prioritize and track multiple projects against key objectives, progress, milestones while proactively communicating and managing roadblocks
  • Ensure learning objectives and deadlines for projects are met, within scope
  • Makes informed decisions in a timely manner by consulting right stakeholder(s) to keep projects to deadline and/or in regard to content and delivery methods
  • Informs and designs online content aligned to business needs and performance gaps by role
  • Evaluates effectiveness of programs, experiences, content created
  • Balance demands of multiple projects and/or requests against timelines that may shift – ability to communicate roadblocks, help needed, and needed changes to meet completion
  • Travel – this position includes up to 20% travel depending on business needs for in-person team meetings and/or in-person observations of L&D workshops and courses

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to connect well with people in different roles, including in engineering, maintenance and corporate support roles
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently, with a small team, and with SMEs to achieve successful learning and development outcomes
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and design software, especially Workday, Articulate; ability to learn and assimilate to new ones as needed
  • 1 – 3 years experience in designing and creating learning and development content that aligns to an organization’s culture, voice, and business needs
  • 1 – 3 years of broad learning and development experience in industry and/or corporate setting
  • Excellent project management, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Background or experience in logistics industry
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills – PowerPoint, Outlook, Word especially, Smartsheet, Excel
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or similar preferred

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

The compensation for the position is: $63,750.00 – $75,000.00
