The Instructional Design Consultant works collaboratively with Washington State University College of Nursing faculty, designated subject matter experts, and designated University departments to design, develop, evaluate, and maintain online, blended, and on-campus courses for academic degree, certificate, and/or professional development programs at the College of Nursing. Courses may be asynchronous self-paced, asynchronous instructor-led, or synchronous online; as well as on-campus or blended (flipped).

Essential Duties:

  • Curriculum Evaluation and Compliance – 50%
  • Curriculum Design – 40%
  • Training and Professional Development – 5%
  • Other – 5%

Required Qualifications:

A Master’s degree and two (2) years of professional experience that has included designing and facilitating learning opportunities for diverse groups, educational assessment, maintaining learning environments and communities (may or may not be technology enhanced), and best practices in teaching and learning; or equivalent combination of education and experience in related areas.

Additional Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in instructional design, education, or other applicable field from an accredited university or college.
  • Two (20 years of experience working with faculty or subject matter experts in a learning environment.
  • Experience designing and maintaining courses that are delivered via a learning management system.
  • Experience incorporating principles related to adult learning theory, UDL, and backwards design in the course development and evaluation process
  • Experience using Quality Matters or other criterion-based standards in order to evaluate and maintain course quality control

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing learning experiences for a competency-based curriculum.
  • Experience developing learning experiences in the fields of nursing, medicine, or other healthcare related field.
  • Experience using software and tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, Captivate, etc. to support development and delivery of multimedia learning objects, graphics, presentations, and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire new knowledge and skills needed to complete job duties.

Monthly Salary: $4,508.70 – $6,763.06; commensurate with qualifications and experience
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.
