Position Description

Kinder Morgan is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Instructional Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design for online adult learning and will be responsible for designing and developing multiple training initiatives, including leadership development and Human Resources training programs for both online and virtual delivery.

Position Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with HR professionals and business leaders to identify and understand business training and development needs and effectively translate those needs into learning strategies.
  • Design and develop engaging and interactive online training programs that adhere to adult learning theory best practices.
  • Create comprehensive virtual instructor-led training materials, including slides, handouts, and facilitator/participant guides.
  • Manage multiple training programs with several moving components, including tracking attendance, scheduling courses, providing completion status, and measuring effectiveness of programs.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Training & Development, or other applicable specialties related to the job requirements.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in developing successful training programs (online and virtual), preferably in the areas of leadership development and HR compliance training.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Teams).
  • Experience with developing online training.
  • Job level commensurate with experience and skill set.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to communicate effectively and credibly with audiences at all management levels.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including organizing and managing details, keeping multiple tasks/projects on track, and providing timely updates to supervisor(s) and others.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, take initiative to learn and adapt to new information and technologies, meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards, and stay connected in a hybrid work environment.
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data in Excel, as well as create and develop reports.
  • Maintain a regular, dependable attendance, and high level of performance.
  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), and follow work rules.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:

  • Experience with developing online training using Articulate Storyline 360 (preferable), Adobe Captivate, or comparable software.
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS), including data entry, running reports, and providing end-user support.
  • Experience with designing, editing, and uploading materials into SharePoint 2016.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • HR Generalist experience.
  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification.
  • Advanced degree in a related field.

Certifications, Licenses, Registration:

  • The successful candidate will be required to successfully clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
