From product 101 to application techniques to artistry and trend, the design team within the department creates the training solutions that drives the training strategy and provides the tools for our store employees to be the most knowledgeable in the industry.

Your role at Sephora:  

As an eLearning Developer, you will be responsible for the development of custom, innovative and engaging online training content for Sephora employees based in store. The ELD conceptualizes and implements dynamic, immersive learning experiences through sound instructional design and development methodologies. Reporting to the Manager, eLearning Development, the ELD ensures that training deliverables function across multiple devices through extensive QA/troubleshooting and publishes the course package.  In addition, you will:  

  • Coordinate, manage and execute all necessary aspects of eLearning development and maintain an advanced understanding of trends and best practices 
  • Create custom eLearnings, storyline blocks and videos in collaboration with the Creative Production team 
  • Create templates from scratch in collaboration with Instructional Designers, Visual Designers and cross-functional partners that promotes an efficient yet learner-centered approach. 
  • Create unique custom interactions based on content that uses an advanced knowledge of triggers, variables, animation/ design tools, and JavaScript.  
  • Collaborate with Instructional Designers to storyboard module based on SME input 
  • Present and defend design recommendations to partners, stakeholders, and senior leadership for review, feedback, and approval.
  • Research, organize and create content in logical eLearning sequences for maximum learner retention 
  • Collaborate with Visual Designers to leverage graphics and animations as needed to elevate the learning experience 
  • Create custom graphics and animations as needed to elevate the learning experience 
  • Manage, edit and create animated videos with Vyond
  • Record and edit live audio; Generate and edit AI audio
  • Ensure training content adheres to audio/visual technical specifications for mobile and desktop learning, as well as brand guidelines and industry best practices 
  • Manage digital, video, closed captioning and image assets, ensuring all files are correctly named, packaged, catalogues, delivered and archived
  • Thoroughly test, debug and troubleshoot across multiple devices and browsers 
  • Ensure final project deliverables are produced at the highest quality 
  • Design and build module while incorporating stakeholder feedback

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • 3+ years instructional design experience focused on eLearning and multimedia development 
  • Combination of creative design skills and technical knowledge; experience with graphic design, video, micro-learning, responsive design, gamification, simulations, animation/motion graphics preferred  
  • Proficiency with various eLearning tools (i.e. Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, etc.) and solid knowledge of responsive design and advanced actions, audio editing program (i.e. Audacity), and Learning Management Systems 
  • Intermediate to advanced skill in Adobe Creative Cloud (XD), Microsoft Office 
  • Foundational understanding of HTML5, CSS and JavaScript and able to leverage when needed 
  • Strong knowledge of effective Instructional Design, using either ADDIE or SAM methodology 
  • Experience developing in Vyond 
  • Ability to conduct sound research and bring innovation to the team 
  • Independently troubleshoot/solve multi-faceted instructional technology issues 
  • Strategic thinker and solutions-orientated partner; able to prioritize and manage work through process 
  • Strong project management skills that are demonstrated by timely task completion and quality of deliverables 
  • Flexible, upbeat and energetic attitude – self-starter with the ability to quickly build strong partnerships, effectively communicate needs and challenges to drive results 
  • Remains calm under pressure—responds positively to rapidly changing circumstances 
  • Demonstrates integrity, maturity and a constructive approach to challenges and negotiating with others 
  • Highly collaborative and open to multiple perspectives, work both independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomes 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while paying strict attention to detail 
  • Team player who is comfortable receiving feedback and creative critique 
  • Retail and cosmetics experience are a plus 

The annual base salary range for this position is $93,840.00 – $124,830.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.  Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.  Sephora offers a generous benefits package to full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental and vision plans; a superior 401(k) plan, various paid time off programs; employee discount/perks; life insurance; disability insurance; flexible spending accounts; and an employee referral bonus program.
