Job Description And Position Requirements:

The Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Education Initiative within the Bellisario College of Communications at Penn State, seeks candidates for the position of Education Program Specialist.

Responsibilities: The Education Program Specialist is a key member of this Initiative which provides K-12 educators in Pennsylvania and other locations with sustained, intensive professional learning experiences that support them in the effective teaching of difficult topics such as the Holocaust, bigotry, and trauma.

The individual in this position will facilitate professional learning for educators in several of the Initiative’s partnerships with educational entities such as school districts, other universities, teacher preparation programs, Intermediate Units, etc.

Additional duties will include:

  • Identifying and developing leads for new partnerships with educational entities within and beyond Pennsylvania
  • Conceptualizing and managing complex projects involving multiple stakeholders

Education and Experience: This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of related experience (graduate degree preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates with strong teaching and organizational experience are encouraged to apply. All candidates are expected to have at least one year of teaching experience.

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with strong possibility of renewal.

Work Arrangement: This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote work with regular travel in and beyond Pennsylvania, including overnights and evenings. Proximity to Penn State campuses is not required. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 – $81,500.00
