CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Creative Vision & Strategy:
- Develop a comprehensive multimedia production strategy that aligns with the University’s mission and UOnline’s goals. Think big, experiment boldly, and champion innovation in every aspect of multimedia production.
- Foster a culture of creativity and collaboration within the team, encouraging exploration of new technologies and innovative approaches to storytelling.
- Stay ahead of the curve in multimedia trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in online learning design.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship:
- Lead, inspire, and empower a team of 5-10 multimedia professionals, fostering their growth and development.
- Oversee a network of freelance multimedia specialists from various vendors, ensuring quality and adherence to university standards.
- Cultivate a collaborative and supportive environment where your team can thrive, providing opportunities for professional development and recognizing their achievements.
- Multimedia Production & Management:
- Oversee the production of high-quality multimedia assets for a portfolio of approximately 15 online programs, ensuring alignment with instructional design principles and pedagogical best practices.
- Develop and implement efficient workflows and processes for multimedia production, from concept to delivery, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director of Instructional Design, faculty subject matter experts, and program directors to ensure that multimedia elements seamlessly integrate with online courses and enhance the learning experience.
- Technology & Innovation:
- Identify, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge multimedia technologies and tools to enhance the online learning experience.
- Build and maintain a state-of-the-art multimedia technology ecosystem that empowers your team to create engaging and impactful learning resources.
- Explore emerging technologies like AR/VR and their potential to revolutionize online education, piloting innovative approaches to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Project Management & Production Workflow:
- Masterfully manage a complex production timeline for up to 60 courses at a time, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop and implement robust project management methodologies to ensure efficient and effective multimedia production workflows.
- Proactively identify potential roadblocks, implement solutions, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Build strong collaborative relationships with the Executive Director of Instructional Design, online program directors, faculty, and other key stakeholders.
- Foster open communication and actively seek input from instructional designers, faculty, and students to ensure multimedia assets meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Effectively communicate project updates, address concerns, and proactively develop innovative solutions to challenges.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in multimedia production, digital media, or a related field. Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
Certification and Licensing:
Experience:
7+ years of progressive experience in multimedia production, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Experience managing a team of multimedia professionals and overseeing the development of multimedia assets for online learning environments.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Leadership & Management: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a team of creative professionals. Experience managing complex projects and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Multimedia Production Expertise: Deep understanding of multimedia production principles, techniques, and best practices. Proficiency in a variety of multimedia software and tools, including video editing, animation, graphic design, and interactive media authoring software.
- Technology & Innovation: Strong understanding of multimedia technologies and their application in online education. Experience with video production workflows, multimedia asset management systems, and emerging technologies in digital learning.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with faculty, staff, and external partners.
- Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make sound decisions and implement effective solutions in a dynamic environment.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time, on-site position at the University of Miami’s beautiful Coral Gables campus.

- Experience with Quality Matters (QM) or other quality assurance standards for online courses.
- Active membership in professional organizations such as Online Learning Consortium (OLC), Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), or University Film and Video Association (UFVA).
