Role Summary & Responsibilities 

NWEA’s Professional Learning (PL) Team provides facilitation, coaching, and consultative services to support partners with their professional learning goals. The team is responsible for building capacity within and across schools and districts in a variety of settings by leveraging professional learning initiatives that empower educators to make data informed decisions. We believe implementing evidence-based instructional practices will positively impact student growth and achievement.

The Director of Professional Learning Delivery is responsible for leading and managing the partner-facing delivery of NWEA professional learning products and services provided by Professional Learning Consultants which also includes a contingent workforce. This position works closely with other members of the PL Delivery leadership team, PL Services Operations team, Partner Accounts, and other cross-functional teams to further the mission of NWEA. In addition, the Director of Professional will foster a team environment that is conducive to promoting high quality professional learning and growth for all NWEA Professional Learning team members. The Professional Learning Delivery team is dedicated to facilitating learning experiences that enhance individual knowledge and build organizational capacity to improve student learning. 

Under the direction of the Sr Director of Professional Learning Delivery, this role also requires collaboration with other PL Directors and cross-functional colleagues in leading PL Consultants in all phases of their learning, planning, and execution of professional learning plans and workshops. 

A successful PL Director will have background knowledge of education systems and adult learning theory. This role requires exceptional communication skills, evidence of strong organization skills, attention to detail, flexibility in a rapidly evolving work environment, and a commitment to excellent coaching, development, and motivating others. A PL Director will nurture a culture of trust, transparency, and accountability within and across teams through clear, repeatable, and measurable processes, serving all members connected to developing and delivering our products in appropriate capacities, leads by example, and leads up with solutions prioritizing work based on the value, impact, and effort. ​

Primary Accountabilities  

Quality Assurance

  • Execute the vision and direction for the Professional Learning Delivery Team 
  • Supervise PL Team to enact multiple successful PL implementations 
  • Provide direction on strategic projects, proposals, and strategic relationship management
  • Report monthly on full-time and contingent labor utilization.
  • Ensures PL Team is effectively and efficiently leading all aspects of their work (delivery, utilization, tracking, career development, etc.) 
  • Develops the capacity of PL Team members to have a shared understanding of implementation science, assessment and data relative to their various roles 
  • Responsible for collaborating with the PA team to build, influence, and maintain professional learning plans with partners 
  • Continuously assess PL delivery through consultant observations virtually and in-person
  • Provide coaching and development assistance to consultants through a variety of means leveraging cross-functional support, as needed
  • Create shared and individual goals across team aligned to team and organizational OKR’s
  • Ensure PL Packages and other key deliverables are provided on time and in a satisfactory fashion; escalate expediently, if problems arise

Workflows and Coherence

  • Support consistency of practice by utilizing and contributing to the development of replicable structures and protocols that promote coherence and quality across PL
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance, and evolution of existing PL standards, tools, templates and documented processes 
  • Document progress on management practices that represent PL team workflows, schedules, reporting dashboards and communicate relevant PL metrics 

Sales Support

  • Support and organize your team’s support of Partner Accounts (PA) professional learning proposal planning, validation of contract language/offerings, and other pre-sales supports
  • Identify PL Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and prepare them to successfully partner with PA to position professional learning contracts and renewals
  • Identify pilot/field test sites when applicable
  • Support and in some cases execute proposal/client meetings

Where appropriate, and in collaboration with Sr Director, lead regional delivery team to develop customized service offerings requested by clients under a specific capital budget threshold

Human Capital/Capacity

  • Proactively assess needs of business using pipeline reporting, feedback from Consultants/PA, etc.

Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure candidates are available and prepared for screening, on-boarding, and training

Necessary Business Functions and Oversight

  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders attending meetings as PL representative that are aligned with related region/responsibilities.
  • Create business/relationship development and partner retention opportunities through direct contact with partners and participation in PL Package planning.
  • Review and approve Payroll, expense reporting, HR and general training, etc. in a timely fashion
  • Support assignments and consultant utilization

Education & Experience 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • 5-7 years related experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience leading cross-functional, remote teams
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in Professional Learning within K-12 education 

Benefits and Salary Range

Salary Range – $90,000 – $120,000. Our salary ranges are based on national averages.  We have wide ranges so we can be flexible and determine compensation based on a number of factors including the candidate’s skills, experience, education, and location.
