Montgomery College is seeking to hire an expert level Digital Media Producer Director II to produce and project manage high-profile informational, educational, entertainment, marketing, multicultural and promotional media for the College and our diverse community.

The work schedule is typically Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional evening and weekend assignments. This is a non-bargaining, non-exempt, Grade 27 position. Non-exempt positions are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. This position is located in Rockville, MD with local travel to additional campus locations within Montgomery County.  Telework eligibility is based on the needs of the unit.

This is a full-time temporary position with benefits including annual leave, sick leave, and health coverage. The position is funded through June 30, 2024, with potential for extension.  Employment continuation beyond this period is contingent upon need and funding.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Work with stakeholders to develop complex production elements, including scripts, storyboards, and treatment proposals; assess requirements, and plan strategies to develop effective digital media projects. Projects include: live multi-camera productions, social media videos, scripted and documentary-style projects for cable channel, social networks, promotional outlets, and other creative media requests. Project content may include sports, performing arts, lectures, recognition events, President’s Office Communications. and marketing materials.
  • Independently develop and produce advanced broadcast quality video productions and creative media. Select, plan, and coordinate facilities, technical requirements, performers, and necessary crew.
  • Direct high-level guests, participants, technical production crew and MCTV interns before and during rehearsal and recording, in studio and on location.
  • Coordinate and modify lighting, set design, audio engineering, graphic applications, and approve crew’s designs and approaches. Direct crew members to integrate all production elements into a coordinated live, live-to-record, or recorded show,
  • Coordinate distribution and promotion with programming, engineering and social media teams
  • Shoot high-quality video in studio and on location using MCTV’s wide range of professional, industry-standard equipment.
  • Select, operate, and maintain a variety of complex video, audio, computer-based production equipment, and lighting equipment for use in studio and field productions.
  • Conduct expert-level post-production editing using latest versions of non-linear edit, animation and graphic design software to MCTV’s brand standards.
  • Manage project progress, track milestones, and provide ongoing status reports.
  • Train assigned peers and student interns to assist in operating video, audio and lighting equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in or a related field, and/or any combination of education, training and experience providing understanding of the field and the ability to perform the duties of the job.  
  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in complex live and recorded video production, advanced non-linear video and audio editing techniques; demonstrated utilization of 2D & 3D broadcast graphic development and execution; and excellent project management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all technical and creative facets of video production; and professional-level skills, understanding, and ability to continually develop expertise in digital new media technologies as the industry evolves.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production equipment, including cameras, switchers, routers, character generators, virtual sets, and related systems and software.
  • Experience with videography, lighting, broadcast graphic design and animation, and digital media workflows and formats.
  • Ability to develop and maintain customer relationships; build credibility and trust.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing); to clearly communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience and to thoroughly follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively independently as well as with multiple teams (including engineering, academic and IT teams)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure/tight deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, presentation, and customer service skills and the ability to lead, mentor, guide, and motivate others.
  • Ability to train others of varying experience in all aspects of recorded video production, and to cross-train peers at an intermediate level in the technical operations of video, live production, and multimedia production equipment, systems and related software.
  • Bilingual skills (verbal and written), especially French, Korean, Mandarin and Vietnamese, are a plus.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid driver’s license required and evidence of good driving record.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium to heavy objects weighing up to 50lbs with assistance, as well as squat, walk, climb (stairs and ladders), bend, crouch, stoop, kneel, stand, grasp, reach, pull and repetitive motions.
