The primary purpose of the Designer, Instructional will be to design, implement, and maintain comprehensive and world class learning and development programs for Pacific Dental Services (PDS). This individual will be responsible for partnering with regional and national Subject Matter Experts (SME) to analyze the training needs of applicable team members and create a financially feasible, audience-appropriate learning experience that communicates and reinforces the functional and leadership skills that drive company performance. The Designer, Instructional will develop and perform on-going maintenance on instructional curricula including training programs and materials for field and support team members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop custom learning programs and activities utilizing blended learning approaches, including highly interactive computer-based training, instructor-led training, and both electronic and paper-based performance support tools and resources.
  • Align and create learning objectives that, once presented and trained, contribute to the proficiency of each individual role which will be evaluated through knowledge check or assessment questions including situational or scenario based-questions as part of the overall learning program.
  • Creatively develop the best visual layout and design utilizing various technology applications for training materials in order to enhance the team member learning experience.
  • Complete detailed reviews of training materials and deliverables in collaboration with editing team members for content accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Consult with internal clients and subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand their needs, and integrate optimal learning and development strategies for the target audience.
  • Gather, master, synthesize, and organize complex content from subject matter experts, documentation, and individual research.
  • Continuously build adult learning and technical knowledge to be able to adapt instructional materials created from one format to another, such as converting a classroom-based course to an online format.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Required

  • Certification in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, Technical Communications or higher in related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. In lieu of degree, relevant work experience is required.

Preferred

  • Bachelors Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, Technical Communications or higher in related field.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to multi-task effectively without compromising the quality of the work.

  • Ability to draw conclusions and make independent decisions with limited information.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, staff, regulatory agencies, vendors, and other members of the business community.
  • Self-motivated, reliable individual capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience working Lever application tracking system a plus.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of adult learning theory and best practices in alternative methods of delivery including classroom, virtual classroom, and eLearning.
  • Familiar with technology tools currently available for digital teaching and learning and remain current with new developments in pedagogy and technology-mediated learning.
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Visio.
  • Experience with enterprise learning management systems.
