Physical Retail Curriculum Specialist – Field Enablement

The Wayfair Physical Retail Field Enablement team is currently seeking a Curriculum Development professional to join the team. 

You will be responsible for creating and maintaining training programs for our Specialty Retail Brands (SRBs) and Wayfair store roles, including but not limited to, New Hire Onboarding, Continuous Learning, and Leadership Development through Instructor-Led Training (ILT) Virtual ILT, and self-paced training. You will be expected to quickly develop an understanding of Physical Retail initiatives, processes, and needs. While you will not be expected to be presently proficient in the various tools (tech and software), you will be expected to quickly upskill to be able to successfully use them.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with stakeholders and subject matter experts across the Physical Retail organization to determine individuals, workgroups, and organizations’ training needs. 
  • Design and develop learning solutions and programs by applying adult learning principles and systematic instructional design to create content that best fits the learner’s needs.
  • Create and update content and curricula aimed to support the competency models developed for each role.
  • Use project management tools and skills to manage medium to large-scale content development projects.
  • Develop exercises, tutorials, job aids, assessments, and other learning methods, including social or connected learning strategies and multimedia-based assets through gamified learning and WalkMe.
  • Identify areas for innovation and improvement in Physical Retail to drive performance through learning. 
  • Work in and coordinate with multicultural and virtual teams.

What you’ll need:

  • 6 months time in role minimum
  • In good standing with Talent Management (free of corrective action)
  • Recommended by current reporting manager 
  • Learning and Development experience required
  • Advanced degree in Education, Learning and Development, Organizational Development or related field strongly preferred 
  • Experience curating and developing learning content across various delivery modalities, e.g. ILT, VILT,, content management systems, etc. is preferred.
  • 2+ years experience facilitating curriculum based learning experiences in a corporate training environment both virtually as well as in person.
  • Project management and organizational skills. 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal storytelling skills 
  • Knowledge and experience in agile methodologies & product development cycles (Plan, Discovery, Build, Adopt)
  • Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, leadership, and autonomous drive
  • Articulate, persuasive communicator across multiple organizational levels
  • Savvy, quick thinking, and comfortable in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS). Experience in Cornerstone or Axonify is a plus. 
  • Instructional design process knowledge (ADDIE\SAM) and adult learning theories
  • Previous experience evaluating (Kirkpatrick) and assessing training modules for effective learning required.
  • Problem-solving and a ‘think out of the box’ approach to learning. 
  • Work on multiple projects at the same time and prioritizing work appropriately.
  • A tendency toward creating MVP solutions and results-and growth-oriented mindset.

Types of tasks for role:

  • Oversight and communication/integration of Blueprint updates into current materials
  • Design curriculum packaging in LMS
  • WalkMe updates/additions
  • Curriculum updates for ILT/VILT materials and self-paced training
  • Content audits of all program materials
  • Recipient of anything assigned for curriculum maintenance in standing curriculum
  • Continuous improvement workstream lead
  • Collaborate with SMEs, and store leadership learning experience designers/managers taking in feedback on what’s working/what’s not, and continuously improve programs
  • Aligned to verticals
  • Measurables are aligned to what each training delivery team is accountable to, as well as what’s expected from the creation, design and evolution of programs.
