Description Of Job

The Curriculum Project Coordinator is responsible for the administrative support of the Comprehensive Colorado Curriculum project. Under the guidance of the chief of education, the position will support creating and implementing classroom-ready materials for Colorado’s fourth-grade students.

The Comprehensive Colorado Curriculum will consist of an entire school year’s worth of state-standards-aligned lessons and activities, enhanced by the state’s collection of one million historical photos, 225,000 three-dimensional artifacts, historical and interpretive videos, oral histories, and audio files, documents, and other primary sources. Students will learn history, civics, economics, geography, art, engineering, and critical thinking skills through a culturally relevant historical lens.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Coordination and Support: Assist in the planning and execution of the curriculum initiative and associated stakeholder meetings. Ensure seamless communication among team members and stakeholders.
  • Communication: Act as a liaison between the project team, instructional designers, and external partners. Prepare and distribute updates, reports, and communications to keep all parties informed.
  • Resource Development: Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, instructional designers, and subject matter experts on content need, design, and development to translate materials from the state’s collection into learner-centered experiences.
  • Project Management: Assist in managing the project from initiation to completion, including tracking progress and meeting deadlines.
  • Administrative: Scheduling meetings, travel planning, invoice payment, reimbursements, response to public inquiries, preparing agendas, minutes, weekly updates, and other relevant documentation.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions Of Employment & Appeal Rights

A bachelor’s degree in history, education, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of education requirements, as well as solid organization and collaboration skills.

This role offers the opportunity to impact student learning in the state significantly. Ideal candidates will have experience in the following areas:

  • Project Management Experience : Practical experience managing projects from initiation to completion, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing projects. This includes coordinating tasks, managing timelines, and ensuring project goals are met with high-quality outcomes.
  • Administrative Support: Demonstrated experience in providing administrative support to teams, including managing schedules, organizing meetings, and handling logistics with a high degree of professionalism and efficiency.
  • Event Management and Planning: Experience organizing and managing meetings, particularly setting up internal and external collaboration spaces.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : A track record of successfully engaging with various stakeholders, including team members, community partners, and contractors. The ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Operational Support: Experience in contributing to the operational efficiency of a team or organization, demonstrating an understanding of processes and systems that enhance productivity and effectiveness.

  • Familiarity with K-12 curriculum and/or elementary education
  • A background in history, mainly US and Colorado history
  • An independent work style
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to track and report on multiple projects and project timelines simultaneously

  • Strong proficiency in the Google Suite and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
