About the Role

The temporary Associate Director will focus on curriculum development projects and report to the Executive Director, Academic Planning and Strategic Projects. Their primary responsibility will be to lead curriculum development and manage and support instructional design of non-credit, online courses and programs housed within Continuing Studies in Lifelong Learning. They will provide coaching, feedback and writing support to subject matter experts in the development of learning outcomes and objectives, content, applied activities, assessments, course materials, and rubrics, and will ensure alignment. They can expect to collaborate as a member of a team and use LL’s curriculum and instructional design principles and guidelines to create high-quality courses. They will ensure projects are completed on time and budget.

This role will help Lifelong Learning accelerate academic renewal projects in the business, management and communication subject areas, and will advance our efforts to design equitable, inclusive, accessible, and decolonizing learning environments, content, and pedagogies.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing, developing, and writing learner-centred curricula for mid-career professionals, preferably focused on business and communication subjects and in a post-secondary setting. They will have the knowledge and ability to develop aligned, learner-centred, and engaging online courses and programs for adult learners, and to apply the principles of equity, inclusion, and intersectionality. They will be attuned to the potential uses and limitations of Generative AI in an academic environment. They will have exceptional interpersonal skills, and experience collaborating with diverse teams and building positive coaching relationships with subject matter experts. They will excel at managing projects, adhering to milestones, deadlines, and budgets.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Education, Management, or a related discipline, and four years of related experience in areas such as conceptualizing, planning, designing, and initiating discipline-related curriculum, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of program development and curriculum design.
  • Ability to oversee a team of external contractors (e.g. Instructors) involved with the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of courses and programs.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
  • Ability to provide support in the design and implementation of strategies that promote diversity, inclusion and equity.
