eLearning & Technology Instructional Design Project Management

Design Project Leadership is a critical set of skills needed to be a capable instructional designer. The purpose of this certificate track is to support instructional designers to be able to manage a project from start to finish. The topics include project management strategies, risk mitigation, team roles and responsibilities, managing resources, and quality standards. This track requires all four competencies to be completed to earn the certificate.

Educational Technology continues to be a hot topic in the instructional design field. This track concentrates specifically on working collaboratively with Google Suite, as well as working in a variety of LMS platforms, specifically on identifying native features and tools within the LMS platform. This track also focuses on the critical component of user-design experience (UX). All three of these competencies must be completed to earn the Educational Technology certificate.

The Learning Theories and Design Models track covers instructional design basics and building the foundation of what it means to be an instructional designer. The two competencies combined include topics such as common learning theories, learning strategies, cognitive load, ID models, backward design, and universal design for learning. Completing these two competencies, you can earn the Learning Theories and Design Models certificate.

The Student Experience is all about learner experience and focuses on objective=driven content, ensuring appropriate alignment across courses and programs. Four competencies need to be completed to earn this certificate. Topics include: writing measurable learning objectives, all things aligned, research-based practices, rubrics, open educational resources (OERs), accessible content creation, copyright, and team collaboration.

You will have six months to complete the competencies in each of these tracks and can review the materials at any time during this period. If you wish to access these resources after the six months, you will need to re-enroll.
