Job Description

Do you have a new course that needs to be created with standardized content?  Are you looking to revise an old course to increase student success results?  Are you hoping to engage learners through dynamic course content?

I have three years of dedicated instructional design experience in higher education and have designed courses in face-to-face, blended, and online formats.  My instructional design philosophy is that course content needs to meet all learning styles, engage students through career-relevant learning activities, and build on itself through instructional scaffolding that leads the learner to increased independence and the ability to perform more challenging tasks.   I employ backwards design strategies to ensure the course content appropriately assesses the learning outcomes. I can design courses in any modality in any content area working with a subject matter expert.

My comprehensive instructional designer services include:

1. Optional: Hiring a subject matter expert (SME), including vetting resumes and conducting interviews.  (Note: Any fees for posting job ads and the expert's compensation are in addition to my hourly rate.)
2. Develop summative assessments based on the course, program, and/or institutional outcomes.
3. Develop formative assessments to prepare students for the summative assessments.
4. Optional: Review and select media options for the course.
5. Identify from media or other open-source content and/or create learning activities, lecture materials, and other print resources to guide the learning through acquisition of knowledge and practice of skills.
6. Write verbiage that will guide students through the learning experience in the LMS.
7. Optional: Identify and/or create student and faculty resources/guides.
8. Optional: Provide training to leadership and/or faculty on the course materials.
