SUMMARY

Edits eLearning scripts, onscreen text, and other training materials to ensure that the material is logically written, grammatically correct, properly punctuated, and correctly formatted.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the methods and requirements of instructional systems have been applied.
  • Ensures that the material meets the objectives, that the test questions can be answered based on the information presented in the material, and that the material meets the required reading level.
  • Ensures that the material is readable, understandable, and flows in a logical progression, and that graphics, tables, and illustrations match and support the text.
  • Ensures that documents are grammatically correct, properly punctuated and consistently formatted.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, instructional designers, programmers, editors, and other team members
  • Work virtually, interfacing with internal staff via instant messaging, virtual meetings, email, telephone

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, technical writing, journalism, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in technical editing in a fast-paced environment
  • At least 1 year of experience testing/reviewing online content (preferred)

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent editorial skills and the ability to mentor writers in editing their work; extreme attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to write effectively following company and account standards, as well as accepted rules of grammar, style, tone, and form that are appropriate for the audience and accomplish the intended purpose
  • Ability to adhere to quality assurance and version control standards and processes and to suggest improvements as necessary
  • Ability to self-manage and set priorities for completing project tasks while working on multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines and budget consideration
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and embrace changing client priorities and business imperatives
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical staff
  • Proficient in use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint and Articulate Storyline a plus
  • Fluency in Spanish or French a plus
