Senior Instructional Designer

Summary

Manages the planning and setting of standards for course delivery, and coordinates the design, development and implementation of on-campus, online and hybrid courses

Essential Job Functions

• Leads instructional design team initiatives, including committees and implementation of new instructional approaches
• Serves as primary liaison between instructional design team and academic departments
• Provides support and direction to instructional design staff by training and mentoring team members, as necessary
• Collaborates with faculty in the creation of new courses and the adaptation of existing courses for the
• Recommends the appropriate tools, media, and teaching strategies to accomplish course goals, objectives, and outcomes, assisting with the identification, selection, and application of appropriate assessment tools and strategies needed by faculty
• Develops and delivers initial and ongoing faculty training in the use of instructional tools and strategies
• Oversees course development, monitoring that deadlines are met and that courses meet university standards
• Mentors faculty in the effective use of the online platform for delivery of instruction
• Identifies and assists in implementing innovative and effective instructional strategies, as deemed appropriate by academic leadership, and explores and provides information to the academic community on emerging technologies
• Assesses and addresses the needs of faculty on a continuous basis to help improve the effectiveness of online instruction
• Collaborates with leadership on the evaluation of faculty developing and teaching courses
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a master’s degree
• Significant amount of experience working in instructional design, course management systems or other related experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, instructional design or a related field of study
• Experience working in higher education
• Experience teaching at the post-secondary level
• Three or more years experience with asynchronous online course design and/or online faculty support
• Experience with Blackboard and Salesforce
• Experience with active research or presenting in field(s) of education, Instructional Design & Technology or a related field
