SAIC is currently seeking a motivated, career-oriented learning engineer to bring and interdisciplinary approach to learning based on an in-depth foundation and education in proven theoretical leading models and methods, educational paradigms and instructional approaches, and scientific and analytical methods to promote good decision-making in the use of learning ecosystem components. This position allows for 100% remote work.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a grounding in applied learning sciences with additional emphasis in data science, analytics, user experience, and applied research
  • Demonstrate an understanding of statistical modeling approaches for education and training, analysis of large datasets, and the use of evidence to improve learning
  • Focus on data, and in using validated methods, that put learning data to work in the service of improved learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness
  • Combine big data with design-based research to improve the design of learning experiences
  • Use theoretical and practical understanding to scale innovations across the learning ecosystem
  • Collaborate with instructional designers to validate or assess learning needs, develop strategies, and implement plans based on all the component parts and connections within the ecosystem in which learning occurs
  • Recommend the most effective use of learning resources and contribute to transforming how the supported organization thinks about teaching, learning, education, and training
  • Assist the supported organization in identifying and solving complex sociotechnical problems in logical ways

Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • A doctorate degree in education and ten (10) years or more experience; master’s degree in education, instructional systems, or related area and thirteen (13) years or more experience in areas of training, learning, and/or education; or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize large data sets with appropriate quantifiable and qualifiable research methodology through prior published work
  • Undergraduate or higher degree in instructional design, formal certification in instructional design, or a minimum of five (5) years’ practical experience as an instructional systems designer or equivalent role
  • Demonstrated content mastery in areas related to learning/training transfer theory
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams in a learning, training, or educational ecosystem
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Competency in MS Office Suite
  • United States citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain a secret Security Clearance

Desired Education, Certifications, Expertise, Years of Experience:

  • A doctorate degree in education or a terminal degree in another field with at least ten (10) or more years’ work experience in areas of training, learning, and/or education
  • Undergraduate or higher degree in instructional design, master-rated certification in instructional design, or a minimum of ten (10) or more years’ practical experience as an instructional systems designer or equivalent role
  • Demonstrated significant past performance leading cross-functional teams in a learning, training, or educational ecosystem
