Preclerkship Curriculum Manager
Position Summary
The Preclerkship Curriculum Manager is responsible for coordinating the administration and logistics of the preclerkship phase of the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine curriculum (program years one and two) at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM). This position is part of the Instructional Design and Assessment (ID&A) team within the Division of Medical Education, and reports to the Director of Instructional Design and Assessment. The Preclerkship Curriculum Manager will work collaboratively with administrative personnel at MSUCOM’s three preclerkship sites, with the college’s faculty, and with the MSUCOM Registrar and the Office of Enrollment Services and Student Records (ESSR). The Preclerkship Curriculum Manager will supervise a team of East Lansing-based curriculum assistants.
This role will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of the preclerkship curriculum, in alignment with ID&A best practices and as guided by developing accreditation and industry standards. Develop and use workflows optimized for sustainability to meet needs of multiple groups. Supervising the East Lansing-based curriculum assistant team, which includes assignment of tasks, performance reviews, skill development, and coaching. Coordinating semester planning and preclerkship course schedule development, including coordination of classroom scheduling with ESSR. Ensuring optimal use of related technologies for the delivery of the curriculum, including Medtrics and D2L, and of proactive coordination with MSU IT classroom support. Coordinating with ID&A team specialists to promote and monitor implementation of curriculum design and assessment plans. Coordinate efforts for curriculum delivery with administrative directors at the Macomb University Center and Detroit Medical Center sites. Supporting compliance with accreditation requirements related to curriculum delivery, including the use of strategies and technologies for curriculum mapping and outcomes reporting. Participating in the planning activities and meetings of the College Curriculum Committee.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Education, Health Education, Educational Administration or a related field; six months to one to year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience and knowledge of curriculum in the area of employment; word processing, database, spreadsheet and presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
