Job Summary:

Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Instructional Design position for the Learning Management System (LMS) which will be ranked at a Business Services Entry Professional level.

The Learning Management System (LMS) Team is looking for a values driven individual with a passion for education, training, technology, and a desire to support the health and well-being of all people. The Instructional Designer will be a key member of the small team responsible for building out behavioral health training for behavioral health professionals, other public professionals, and the community at large. 

The Learning Management System (LMS) Instructional Designer role sits in the Community, Population, and Public Mental Health Division (CPP) of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. This position will report directly to the Learning Management System (LMS) Manager. This is a hybrid position. In-office days/times and remote location days/times will be negotiated at time of job offer.

The ideal candidate is a life-long learner and a self-starter with the ability to take initiative and communicate effectively with the Learning Management System (LMS) Manager, other members of the Learning Management System (LMS) team, and all other stakeholders while working independently on tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Learning Management System (LMS) team, university faculty, external subject matter experts (SMEs), and organizational partners as part of the effort to analyze training needs and opportunities.
  • Design asynchronous learning opportunities by applying tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods.
  • Create and edit multimedia content using a variety of editing and authoring tools.
  • Utilize the LMS team’s learner performance criteria to develop assessment instruments.
  • Create assessment exercises and interactions that increase learner engagement.
  • Build and update courses on training portals, web assets and learning management systems.
  • Learn new technologies and methods applicable to the development of training.

Work Location:

  • Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of a decided upon days per week on campus in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, instructional design, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Instructional or curricular design domain experience. 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Content Authoring tools (e.g., Photoshop, Captivate, Present, Acrobat Pro).
  • Experience working with a variety of web conferencing, presentation, distance learning, and video editing tools and software.
  • Experience with learning managing systems (i.e., Canvas, Blackboard, etc.) to create and manage online courses, user accounts, course settings and enrollment options.
  • Experience teaching and supporting individuals new to technology.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and designing interactive educational products using a wide spectrum of current educational technologies. 
  • Experience working directly with faculty or SMEs in behavioral health, public health, medical, or closely related fields to develop innovative content.

Anticipated Pay Range:

  • The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as: $50,803 – $64,622.
  • The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
