This role is supporting by the “Nursing and Allied Health Nursing Innovation Grant” sponsored by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. This project aims to: (1) increase participation of early career nurse educators through innovation of an online clinical nurse education course series making it more accessible and relevant to working nurses and faculty; (2) expand outreach to community and rural colleges across Texas to promote recruitment and retention of early career nursing faculty and teaching assistants through competency based education, mentoring and feedback; and (3) offer clinical education courses and digital badging (i.e., micorcredentials) for prelicensure nursing students to increase the available pool of qualified instructors and increase interest in advanced nursing degrees. These goals are designed to increase the number of nurse educators in Texas.
Purpose
The Instructional Designer will work with nursing faculty and support integration of concepts specific to nursing education into the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) using CidiLabs and videos created in cooperation with UT LAITS to design engaging and accelerated online course content. It is anticipated that approximately 4 hours/week of course and materials design and course updates, technology support and refinement will be required.
