The Instructional Systems Designer will be responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, and evaluating high-quality training content. This position will have the responsibility of developing and administering training plans and content within a call center environment at multiple sites, as well as reporting, and modification of existing training content. The ideal candidate requires strong project management and learner needs assessment and evaluation skills in order to deliver quality outputs on time. The Instructional Systems Designer will work collaboratively with various levels of management, multiple cross-functional partners, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to determine appropriate learning solutions and outcomes. The candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively, and with many different teams on simultaneous projects.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and engage training content and materials using various tools such as Articulate Storyline, Vyond, and others
  • Work with managers and subject matter experts to develop various forms of training materials including job aids, e-Learning courses, hybrid training, and more
  • Ability to develop/Design instructional materials that are interactive, innovative, functional, informative, and consistent with sound instructional design and learning theory principles
  • Proactively research training industry trends (Gamification, creating web-based learning programs, virtual training capabilities, training tools/platforms, etc.)
  • Oversees development of appropriate training materials and programs applying adult learning principles and systematic instructional design to create learning curricula that best suites the needs of the content (including online, classroom, virtual instructor-led training, and blended learning).
  • Design and develop exercises, tutorials, job aids, assessments, and other methods of learning including social or connected learning strategies.
  • Perform needs analyses using available data and establish a process to review and evaluate program results to continuously improve learning effectiveness.
  • Works with subject matter experts to ensure that the course objectives are defined and met, and the appropriate instructional method and learning principles are selected for the development of each product.
  • Oversees aspects of course quality including content, editorial, and overall presentation of material, tracking and resolving issues through LMS.
  • Deliver train the trainer sessions via ILT or virtual, and deliver training in-person training when and if necessary

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, e-Learning, or Education preferred or equivalent years of experience. Preferred major in Education, Instructional Design, Communications, Business, or Organizational Behavior. Certifications in Training, Curriculum Developer, or Instructional Design are also a plus.
  • 2 years of professional work experience with an applicable advanced degree or certification or 4+ years of professional work experience without a degree
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current instructional theories and principles applicable to both online and instructor-led learning programs.
  • Development of creative and engaging training materials for adult audiences, in a variety of formats and media as well as storyboarding and user guides.
  • Minimum of 2+ years demonstrated proficiency in designing, building, and deploying instructor e-learning modules using real-time technology and the ADDIE model of curriculum development with an emphasis on Constructivist approaches.
  • Experience in utilizing the various levels of Bloom’s taxonomy to construct learning objectives.
  • Excellent computer skills, including all MS Office applications are required

Additional Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • High level of honesty and integrity with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience in Learning Management Systems administration (LMS)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Articulate Storyline 360 suite, Vyond Studio, iSpring LMS, and a good understanding of Sound editing software is required.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and individual environment
  • Ability to design and develop training with multimedia elements
  • Experience in researching/writing course content and/or developing courses, demonstrations, graphic designs, and other technology-driven products
  • Experience utilizing the Kirkpatrick 4 Level Assessment for training curriculums.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Fast-paced, Retail Call Center environment. 
  • The majority of work is performed on a personal computer in a seated position. 
  • Ability to travel to work locations to support training projects/curriculum development. 
  • Weekend work, extended hours, and flexible work schedules may also be required.
