Position Details

The candidate for this role will be a talented and motivated senior level Instructional Designer.  As an Instructional Designer, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by assessing needs, defining outcomes, and designing and developing innovative learning solutions that drive employee learning, development, and organizational success. 

First Bank offers its employee a hybrid work schedule which includes a minimum of two days a week in our Creve Coeur office and up to three days working from home.  The in-office days are designed to inspire increased collaboration, development, productivity, and quick decision making.

Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate strong teaming/collaboration skills, quickly establish and maintain credibility, and develop trusting partnerships with leadership, stakeholders, and SMEs throughout the project/initiative.
  • Ability to conduct a gap analysis between performance expectations and actual performance outcomes. 
  • Develop storyboards and instructional objectives, outcomes, along with assessment mechanisms to demonstrate that objectives have been met. 
  • Identify and monitor success metrics that inform and validate quality, usage, business impact, scalability, and return on investment of learning interventions.
  • Recommend and apply applicable and relevant learning approaches, technologies, and methodologies and transform content into professionally produced, engaging instruction that motivates employees at all levels.
  • Apply adult learning and instructional design principles to design comprehensive blended learning experiences (including virtual, e-Learning/self-paced, and in-person) that promote desired behavior change and/or enhance knowledge/skills (skill categories include professional, leadership, functional and/or technical).
  • Transform complex concepts, processes, and technical information into clear, simple language/visuals that engage and motivate people.
  • Curate learning pathways and curricula to support the acquisition of knowledge and skills.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness, conduct quality analysis reviews of instructional materials, and implement improvement plans based on learner feedback and performance and engagement data.
  • Project manage small- to large-scale content development projects and, as needed, vendors sourced for content development.
  • Challenge the FBU team to identify, experiment with, and implement new and innovative learning approaches, tools, and systems that help us scale.
  • Identify opportunities and support the development of internal processes, procedures, and governance within the function.

What Do You Need for this Position?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience as an Instructional Designer or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning science/theory, instructional design principles, and learning technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new information and technologies quickly and break down complex concepts
  • Proficiency in designing and developing engaging e-learning modules using authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Articulate Storyline)
  • Strong project management experience; proficiency with project prioritization and time management
  • Advanced communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and subject matter experts at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and planning skills
  • Analytical mindset and the ability to gather and analyze data to drive decision-making and measure the impact of learning initiatives
  • Ability to work independently with a demonstrated success in resolving complex problems
  • Able to collaborate with varying levels of leadership, stakeholders, and subject matter experts, both internal and external
  • Highly adaptable and actively seeking and iterative, agile environment
  • Passion for learning and creating an engaging learner experience, and a commitment to staying updated on industry trends and best practices
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) experience required
  • Familiarity with gamification and simulations a plus
  • Learning management system experience required, experience with Cornerstone a plus
