The following position is to join our RTX Corporate, Enterprise Services, Research Center or BBN team:

The Instructional Designer & Developer plays a critical role in the overall success of our Service Centers. Our Service Centers support all Business Units within the Americas, and this role will provide direct and indirect support to employees, managers, and HR professionals by designing, developing, and maintaining educational materials. Candidate should have a foundational understanding of instructional design models that produce impactful, measurable results, such as increased employee engagement and improved retention. They should also be able to foster a collaborative, productive learning environment that captures the audience’s attention and helps them meet their development goals.

The Instructional Designer and Developer will:

  • Partner with the Service Center Leads to define learning and educational needs for our service center employees.
  • Partner with the Quality Lead to define informational and educational support needed to help Service Center Agents raise quality scores and master required skills.
  • Partner with Onboarding Lead to design, develop, implement, and maintain progressive, engaging content for new advisors that facilitates mastery of required skills and defined processes intended to provide exceptional customer experiences.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify training needs covering various functional areas and disciplines that the Service Center will directly or indirectly support.
  • Assist in the design, development and implementation of robust, flexible educational content and programing for Service Centers and other partners across the organization as defined.
  • Ensure educational programming equips our Service Centers with the JIT information and skills needed to provide exceptional customer experiences.
  • Leverage customer feedback, quality assurance trends and performance metrics, to identify learning gaps or needs for the defined audience and enhance content accordingly.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Execute needs analysis in response to needs, gaps, requests, or requirements.
  • Collaborate with subject experts to review content and define learning need.
  • Determine best instructional method(s) and media to meet the defined need.
  • Contribute to the development of overall instructional strategy; analyze and implement changes to educational programs, identify effective instructional methodologies and ensure media and method aligns with defined needs.
  • Design and develop educational content including guides, rubrics, assessments, games, activities, and assignments.
  • Develop engaging e-course content utilizing industry-standard software.
  • Create learning experiences and environments to facilitate discussion, interaction, and collaboration.
  • Analyze and assess student progress and align or modify content to address identified gaps or needs.
  • Devise modes of assessment to measure effectiveness of content and ensure defined level of competency has been achieved.
  • Assess and update existing educational content as needs, processes or requirements change.
  • Work with highly sensitive and confidential material and possess good business judgment and ethics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Experience with course development software
  • Knowledge of instructional theory, including assessments
  • Experience with training and development of educational materials
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, with advance knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Must provide samples or portfolio of your work
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Experience with Articulate 360 Storyline
  • Experience storyboarding out course design & content
  • Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, or other graphics program
  • Ability to write effective audio scripts
  • Bilingual (Canadian French)

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD – 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
