Summary:

Our Instructional Designer will assist in the planning, design, and development of new applications and enhancements to existing applications, as well as perform many other duties to help Epic reach its mission. Successful candidates should also have the following experiences and characteristics:

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work directly with a SME (Subject Matter Expert) to build course content and assessments
  • Integrate created curriculum within an LMS to create PK-12 student-level courses. 
  • Analyze and apply learner data trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role-play, games, etc…) Work with the assessments department to devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the e?ectiveness of the course.
  • Work with Instructional Coaches to support instructional department professional development.
  • Complete pacing and learning progression analysis at regular intervals during the school year.
  • Complete curriculum and course reviews to ensure they meet graduation requirements.
  • Complete curriculum and course reviews to ensure they meet NCAA requirements.
  • Work with the System Support Department to assign courses and SIS codes. 
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No supervisory responsibilities

Education and/or Experience

  • An MS/MA in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a similar, relevant ?eld. 
  • Proven experience in instructional design for two or more years.
  • Elementary or Secondary Education certification

 Quali?cations

  • In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models. Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
  • Basic understanding of interoperability between learning tools.
  • Proven experience working with at least one Learning Management System (LMS) for 2 years or more. Agilix Buzz experience is a plus.
  • Visual design skills, experience with the Adobe design suite, Genially, Canva, or Articulate are a plus. Ability to write e?ective copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts.
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and be e?ective in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • An innate understanding of the Epic school model is a plus
  • Must possess a professional and friendly attitude and be able to quickly develop a rapport with stakeholders over the phone
  • Ability to learn and navigate new software quickly
  • Strong attention to detail, dependability, and follow-through Passionate commitment to the mission of school choice
  • Ability to maintain professional con?dentiality and comply with FERPA guidelines

 Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret internal communications, ?nancial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from families or members of the business community. Ability to communicate e?ectively with students, families, and coworkers, both verbally and in writing.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills required

Reasoning Ability

Ability to de?ne problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have advanced Google Suite. Computer pro?ciency in Windows, and Microsoft O?ce. Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.

  • Current driver’s license and valid car insurance
  • Software speci?c certi?cations preferred

  • Must be able to pass a state-mandated background check after a conditional o?er of

This position is remotely based but must also travel to various Epic sites and events. This requires spending a significant amount of time in the car, driving in various conditions and at various times of the day. The noise level is quiet to moderately loud (when students are present.)
