The Dean’s office in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is currently seeking an Assistant Director who will work with the Director of Online Curriculum and Digital Innovation and College Deans to execute College strategic online goals, which include new online programs, online course requests, proposal development, leading communities of practice, and curriculum development.
This position will require the assistant director to work on multiple high-priority projects that require considerable coordination and independence. This requires the ability to set and articulate clear expectations of project objectives; define and assign project development responsibilities and timelines, and facilitate team communications.
This position will provide leadership support for online programs through strategic planning, curriculum development and coordinating program onboarding and implementation.

Working Environment

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.

Flexible work option:
Hybrid Remote work is available for up to two days a week upon completion of the onboarding period. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND six (6) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Ten (10) years of related administrative experience, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Essential Duties

  • Works with the Director to lead the management of the College online programs and serves as a resource for online initiatives and program trends in the College.
  • Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff.
  • Leads and supervises development and coordination of high-level projects and implements corrective action as required.
  • Works with Director to develop and manage online program long term strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Prepares or coordinates preparation of online financial and administrative reports; analyzes and interprets statistics, financial data, and management planning data for predicting resource needs and developing long range plans.
  • Works with Director on the development of online and digital initiatives that align with the long- and short-range goals of College.
  • Represents the College and serves on various department and university committees and may act in place of the Director in that person’s absence.
  • Resolves problems and issues affecting the College and units and recommends measures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Coordinates efforts and support for unit online program leads.
